Can anyone help, the car is sitting on stands therefore the wheels and suspension are all in free fall. I am trying to connect the steering track rods, the long rod is ok but the short rod will not lower to meet the wheel tracking arm. The reason is the two steering box ball joints touch in the centre thus not allowing it to lower.

You should lift the right or better both wheels or the hubs with a jack!

Thank you for your reply. Yes this will work and when the car is on the ground with the engine in this would work out fine, but if for any reason the car is jacked up the strain on the track rod end and steering box would be very severe you will see from the new pic the distance from the track arm.

Dave,

Post on the Classic section - there are a number of people currently restoring Granturas who may be able to help.

Hi there,

Have you sorted this?

My mate who lives just across the road has a MK1 Grantura, we could have a look at that if you want?

We are getting together later for a curry....will show him this....
