Drill Bit Advice for Chassis

I need to drill an 8mm hole in the chassis to modify the exhaust hanger. This will not compromise integrity in anyway, but will make it massively easier to fit rubber exhaust hangers.

Please can someone share a link to a set of drill bits that will be up to the task.

Any decent high speed steel drill but should do. DeWalt extreme are good. Don't drill too fast otherwise you'll just dull the tip.

Any HSS bit will do it, put a 3 or 4mm through first, and a little oil to cool your tool.

Not oil (unless you mean cutting oil) as it makes the bit slip instead of cut. Rocol is very good, but for a single piloted hole you should be OK dry.

For a single hole you could probably use pound-shop drill bits! The trick is to use a countersink bit afterwards to kiss the edge of the hole and dress it up nicely.

..... then touch up the paint because you've now got pristine bare metal, just waiting to rust!

You'd have bare metal in a hole anyway But it's bare metal on 3mm plate steel, as opposed to thinner wall tubes that make up 95% of the chassis, so I know where my worries go!
