Chimera Insurance

Just getting some quotes, my current insurance company won't insure the soft-top.

Is this normal, and what would I be looking at for a new one, if I couldn't patch the existing one up?

This is a long shot, but are there any Chim owners in the Manchester/Cheshire area who wouldn't mind taking me out for an hour or so one weekend, as a passenger only, to have a chat about the cars strengths and weaknesses?

I'd pay for petrol and whatever, I just want to get as much experience as I can before I choose one.

Post a message on the North West PH forum. I you go to one of the meets (say The Romper meet) then you could go to and from the meet with the Chimaera owner and have your chat in the car, plus get slots more opinions and a few drinks when you get there.

I'd do it myself, but I sold mine to CrazLegs last month.

Not that much of a long shot P.o.D!!

Would be more than happy to show the strengths and weaknesses of my Chimaera 450 (and my driving skills ) No petrol costs to you. I will hopefully experience the look on your face... that'll be enough payment for me

As Roadie says we do Romper (Pub) meets every month or so and really are due for another one, so you can be a passenger if you like. Or we can arrange something outside of that. OR there is also the local tvrcc meet which is the second Tuesday in the month. So that's err... 11th Feb.

I also know a couple of 5 litre owners who may or may not be around. In fact, one of them is looking to sell his (it's in the classifieds here on PH). I take it you are looking to buy?

The 450, while not the fastest, is the best tho (and that's in many people's opinions, not just mine and journos)

I'm looking at a 4.0 or 4.3, absolute max budget is £12000, standard spec only (no performance mods).

Just waiting to flog my TT right now (in the classifieds if you know anyone).

Just renewed my policy - 4.3 Chim, £12,000, no mods, only driver, 36 years old, no claims, West London based, 7500miles limit, FC.

Last year = £376 incl. European Recovery
This year = £3307 - apparently the insurance companys has done away with the classic car policy for cars over ten years old. Now that have to be registere before 1973.

Managed to shop around and finally get it down to £793 - which is much better, but still a 100% increase. Company was MSM Insurance - number in Sprint if I remember...

Let me know if you get anything cheaper - still want to ensure I get the best deal around!
