Thinking very seriously about buying a TVR, either a Tuscan MkII S or a Sagaris if I can get hold of one!!!
Just wondered what TVR's you had and how much approx it is to insure?? and if possible who is your insurer..

Thanks a lot! Great help, I would rather not contact the insurance companies for quotes as they never leave you alone afterwards!! :-D

Unfortunately not in the same league as a Sagaris etc but I've got a Chim 400, insured through Admiral for £1015, I'm 29, 2 yrs NCB, 3 points (the usual) and 6k ltd mileage, Oh and a £700 excess. All extortionate if you ask me but far cheaper than a Jap car with half the performance/grin factor.

When first insuring mine, found it depended on whether I'd had a "sportscar" before. Cheapest I got was £1200, only car, 12 years no claims with 6000 mls annual mileage. Sunninghill now but all the other specialists will consider me now too.

Churchills were the first company.

Have a try on www.confused.com for a good range of quotes.

Beware of Kwikfit phoning you up a few days later to annoy you, but it really is a pretty cool site.

I'm paying about £700 on a 4.5 Cerbera with Privilege. 30yo with full NCB.

Saved a packet by getting the girlfriend insured as a named driver - works out a lot cheaper getting a girl on the policy for some reason

I pay about £750 for a RR Tuscan which lives on the street and does about 10k a year. 40yrs old with 1 speeding ticket (6 points) and full NCB. The wife is on the policy and I get a replacement car in the event of "stuff" happening. All with Direct Line.

Same as TurboNelly, with Privilege (same company as direct line and tesco) except i'm a little older, (35yo). my premium was £630 garaged. Added wife to policy and i saved a packet too. Not that I'll ever let her drive it.

Quoted between £1100 - £1500 for various Chimeras, main car, business and personal useage, on a 15000 a year mileage, parked on the street, just inside the Manchester boundary. £600 excess and no cover for the hood.

Performance modifications increase the premium quite alarmingly.

Has anyone got websites or tel nos for Mannings or Sunninghill?

My insurance due soon on Tamora, cheapest quotes so far from Direct Line (£708) and Privilege (£637), worst quote from Norwich Union (£1,400) - 36yrs old, full NCB, car garaged, girlfriend on policy, 3 points over 4 yrs ago.

Anyone got good / bad experience of Direct Line or Privilege?

Alex, we seem to have almost identical circumstances!!!!

I'm with Privilege for my Tam (also for my Chim before), paid just under £600 with all the extra options ticked and wifey on the policy.
The points will come off your license next year, they last 5 years (I know this bebause mine came off last year!)
I have found that for me at least, Privilege come up trumps when you add all the options up, like PNCD, legal aid, guarenteed hire car, 12K limited milage etc

Dave,

About to renew insurance with ClassicLine (01455 639000)for my 2000 Tuscan 4.0L. Am 28yrs old, 7 yrs NCB, 0 points, garaged, limited miles to 5000 p.a. They mirror my NCB on my other daily runabout. All in, £705!!!! (Most other companies come in at around £1100 for me and then I can't use my NCB on my other car which massively puts that premium up)
