Chrome Wheels- Yes or No?

Years ago the only chrome rims available were on wire spoked wheels and American Hotrods , the only memorable exception being being the chromed steel Rostyle, fitted to numerous Triumphs, MGs, Rovers and some Fords.

I went to the Autosport show a couple of weeks ago. Thought I'd check out some new rims for my Chimaera.

Everyone marketing aftermarket alloys there seemed to have a good range of chrome rims on display, now apparently the norm rather than the exception.

So, what's the consensus, tacky bling or desirable upgrade?

Anyone got them on their TVR?

Depends, I'd say tacky but if you are going to combine them will some blue neons, then I'd say very desirable upgrade.

NO! I have yet to see a car I like them on on the road. They do work for me rarely, such as on a viper.

I would not like to see them on a tiv though

Just prepared myself for a roasting/piss taking etc for posting this, so here goes....

Not actually chrome, but the spiders on the cerb (see profile pic) have been stripped and polished (by the former owner I add) which, when I can be bothered to polish them up, look chrome, from a distance at least. I dont have a problem with this and IMHO look great....maybe its just coz the car is yellow, and we all know yellow is the best colour for any TVR

Must say Nick's do look damn good (despite the colour of the car ), but with a very different lustre to chrome. Wouldn't fancy keeping them shiny through the winter though, normal lacquered spiders are bad enough.

Can you get yellow neon lights though

Had them on my Mustang Cobra.

But then that was black/black/black and I was in America at the time.

There is no way, NO WAY that I would consider chrome rims in the UK.

Would only go for chrome if it matched the car (i.e. black car) and the rest of the trim. Agree that black chrome might be an option, but not sure it'd be a "classic" look any more.

On the Shinynuts website there is an photo of some chromed spiders..(in the examples page)
I think on a dark colour car they would be ok

I hate the whole 'chrome' thing (bling) but I do think they look okay as semi chrome, as seen on the new Jaguar, sorry i mean't Aston Martin, no its a Jaguar.... you know the one... this one, the lookalikey!!
