Hello all, I'm getting frustrated trying to get a decent classic policy quote on my Chim 500. Lowest I've had is £286 (classicline) for 3k miles, garaged, 2nd car, standard, 49 Y/O, all clean record.
It just seems a bit steep, I've started a bit late this year and will struggle to get near 3k miles anyway.
I did have a quote for 190 emailed to me but when I called up they said sorry, we don't consider 1997 to be a classic, but had it been '96 no problem! So now it's well over 400!

So I've tried quite a few, though many are closed when I finish work. Going to have another try sitting in queues listening to muzak tomorrow.
Any good suggestions?

Must be just me, recently saw a thread on here (failed to re-find it) in which some TIVers were getting in the 160 to 260 range and it raised my expectations. Maybe when I reach 50.
It's confirmed then, I'm just a tightwad. That thread had me writing down the insurers and numbers but then the page got used as a coaster rendering it illegible. Good work there Einstein.

Footman James was the company in the thread you mentioned but I can't find the thread now.Looking on the TVRCC forum they were quoting as low as £137 for 5K miles and agreed value.
They need Thatcham alarm which I believe the Chim has but not everyone is aware of that.

Local Government employee is less risk that F1 racing driver.
I know, it should be the other way round.
This is what i found. For some reason HP post codes ( S/Bucks) seems to be quite an expensive area to insure a standard car, let alone a TVR. Example:- 92 Griff, old git with no garage but a drive to leave it on. £285 agreed value. Local Government employee is less risk that F1 racing driver.
I know, it should be the other way round.
