Spare pair of hands Newark Notts
Discussion
OK so this might be an odd one. I'm keen to take on a project of my own at some stage soon. It will be a TVR obviously.
I live in Wilts but I am in Notts near Newark (Norwell) every other week (at least) and working away from home. So, I can either spend my time in the B&B doing extra work/ watching crap tv/ or trawling PH for interesting threads - or do something useful (cars).
Having no experience of car rebuilds, rest projects etc. (apart from a failed Alfa GTV 105 series attempt some years ago) plus a love of V8s (Aussie here - mostly Ford) I'm keen to get back into it.
So, if there is anyone who is undertaking a project/maintenance/re build of components who may need a hand or doesn't mind someone watching while they do - then I would be happy to lend a hand.
If you need a hand lifting a body off, steadying an engine, photographing and tagging parts etc then I'm happy to do what is helpful.
I figure its all good experience for me plus from what I have read, there's plenty of people trying to do stuff on their own when the occasional manual help could make a difference, so the offer is there.
Summary: I work away from home and would rather send my evenings working on cars than producing sales forecasts.

Just a thought, if you can't find anyone who needs a hand with their car project, how about getting in touch with Newark Air Museum?
According to their website, the are currently looking for additional volunteers to help with various tasks, including assistance with working on the exhibits.
May be worth a look?

Go and see these guys, they're based out of Newark. www.willowsportscars.co.uk
I'm sure they'd welcome a free and keen pair of hands....

If only I was doing mine this year.....and had a garage! I live about a mile from the Newark Air Museum and have a Chimaera. A keen pair of hands to unbolt, photograph and catalogue everything would be brilliant.
Happy to meet up with the car for a beer and a chat. There are actually quite a few TVRs around Newark
Funnily enough I will be driving to Wilts on the evening of Thursday 30th, for a track day with 3 other Chimaeras at Castle Combe on the Friday. Small world.....

So while you are preparing for your track day, I'll be at my speed awareness course
Might take you up on your offer of a chat and see the car etc when I'm next up. I sympathise with the lack of a garage. I knocked ours down when we did the extension, now trying to work out if I can build a new one!

I did one of those (speed awareness course) one evening last year.

Then did another one the next day.....at Cadwell Park.

Just ping me an email when you fancy a look/chat. I keep up to speed with my email most days.
I do technically have a garage - trouble is it is cramped, dark and full of lawnmowers and sets of wheels/tytes. No, my wife doesn't understand how I can have five sets for one car. And she hasn't twigged that i am about to buy a sixth.....

I'm up again next week so if you're free for a chat, pint that would be great. I'll know what days tomorrow.
