Ultraseal

In this age of of no spare has anyone tried Ultraseal.

It is claimed to be very effective for punctures and reduce the chances of blowouts. The only draw back it seems is that some low profiles may not be suitable due to the construction of the inside of the tyre.

Any experiences?

Once you put this in your tyre no-one will attempt a 'normal' vulcanised plug repair should the Ultraseal fail. I recently had a central 3mil hole which sealed for a couple of days then failed. So, for obvious reasons, I'm sceptical about the claims of a permanent repair.

Better to keep a temporary roadside repair kit (sticky rubber strips and tool) in your boot and get the hole plugged properly later rather than write off the tyre.

However, I'm amazed that anyone would consider that kind of repair on a high speed ultra low profile tyre for a high performance sports car.

I should have mentioned I tested this on my motorbike having been thrown into the verge by my last flat.

On the upside the balance and handling weren't upset during the short period it worked.
