Finger off the lock button Ted, I'm not about to name them. Just needed to get this off my chest.

There is a certain TVR dealer local to me who has a reputation for being, well, rubbish.

The first time I visited them I was left to stand at the counter in the showroom for ten minutes or more while the staff wandered past in varying states of awareness. I couldn't be bothered any more and walked out.

A few months later I decided to give them another chance, maybe they'd just had an off day last time. Was it 'eck as like. Same crap service.

Once after that I was compelled to visit in pursuit of a spare part. After fifteen minutes I was still standing at the counter like a bacon butty at a barmitzvah and even when I made it known what I was there for it took another five minutes before anyone bothered to help me.

No surprise how they got their reputation.

Climbs down, picks up soapbox, departs stage left

Bad dealers can be a right pain, can't they. The amount of time, patience, will power we have to give to some of these places!
I am about to book my Tam in for a service (I do want the dealer stamp) at a place 40 miles away from me, and I will tell them why I am booking with them, and not the closer dealerships.
If I need any spare parts (brake pads, throttle pots etc) I will buy them beforehand from either TMS or TVR Power, as, from my own experience, the local dealer invariably says that they haven't got the parts and will have to order it, which, again invariably takes 6 months minimum! Strange that if you order the parts yourself, you get them next day!!!
Most dealers I'm sure are great, and some have 'off days', but, as has been said before, the services are not cheap and we should expect better.

Reminds me when I was living in London,Before I left to go home I purchased a new Griff through the NZ dealership.
Wanting to get the specs right I went to a certain dealer to have a look at a few cars.I was 26 at the time and I'm sure they thought I was just another tyre kicker, the little pr1ck didnt give me one minute off his time.
If I wasnt going home I could of been one off his customers, makes you wonder what their in it for.

I know you live the 'other' side of the Severn from me Chris, I hope that you get better service than I have had from a main dealer, as I (and others that I know) have also experienced feeling like the invisible man in their showroom!

I now travel many miles for my service after being treeated poorly by my local TVR dealer. Went for a service and got the car back with oil ground into the carpets, several boxes left un-ticked on the service schedule, forgot to look at the minor electrical problem I pointed out to them. I'm fairly sure I was treated poorly because on each of the four times they called me during the day to suggest that further work was required, I told them I'd sort it myself. They couldn't squeeze any more money out of me so they decided to treat me like dirt.

Well my money goes elsewhere now.

Vote with your feet.

Hahaha!!

And which little ad should pop up next to the post above this? Austec Racing!!!

That's where I'll be booking the P&J in for it's service. I know they're the other side of London from me but their reputation makes the trip worth it.

I have said it before; in my opinion the main stealers are more interested in selling you a car than maintaining a car. My local dealers service is appalling. On one occasion I was left waiting for 30 minutes with an increasingly p***ed of wife waiting in the car. Turns out the guy was at dinner so everyone else ignored me until he finished eating.
My personal opinion (and this goes for all makes of car) is to find a good independant. As they are indies their entire business is servicing and repairs so they have to do a good job (or rapidly go out of business).
