Target Cars BV
Discussion
So, don't want any biased or negative comments that would breach any forum rules... But has anyone had any dealing or history with Target Cars BV based in holland?
They have a few TVRs up for sale at what seem like reasonable prices on paper. Does anyone know the history of any of these cars as many are still UK registered?
My incentive is purely economic based as I have a decent amount of euros from working abroad the summer and man maths is working overtime.

I don't mind the Cat C/D thing - after all it's pretty much inconsequential here as long as the cars have been properly repaired; it's in the last part of that sentence that the rub lies. Looking at a friend's TVR that he bought there didn't exactly fill me with confidence in that regard (but then again, he bought it to refurbish). I think you'll need to look at Targets prices in the perspective of a probable body-off and mechanical refurb - which makes most of them a lot less attractive.
The good thing is that the cars aren't tarted up for sale, but strictly sold in as-is condition and from what I heard you get plenty of opportunity to look at the cars without being pressured. Just make sure you get to see a possible purchase from underneath, too.

what do you think: why are those tvr's unsaleable for years ?!
In fairness, if I had a shed full of TVRs c.q. TVR projects I wouldn't be in a particular hurry to sell them off, either - money in the bank isn't worth squat these days and they're not going to get any cheaper in the next 3-5 years. I think their pricing needs to be seen in that light, too - they're not desperate to get shot of them. Just don't assume you get an all round good car at fire-sale prices - what you probably get is a project car at the lower end of the price bandwidth for useable, all-in-one-piece TVRs.Edited by 900T-R on Tuesday 22 September 08:07
I visited them last year to check out a T350 they had advertised.
Yes, I only found out when I arrived that it was a Cat C/D cant remember which and the repair work was very poor.
While I was there, I checked out the Lime Green Sagaris that they used to have. Again Cat Cor D but absolutely stunning.
I made inquiries and confirmed that it had been repaired to a high standard but, in the end, let myself be talked out of the purchase
Target were helpful in providing me with what information they had on the cars but I still felt annoyed that they hadn't made it clear the cars were repaired Cat's.

I think with just go in eyes open. I personally really liked the green Sag and at the right price and a bit of sprucing up it would have been a great car. Trouble is theres a lot of stigma attached to the company.
Check the cars out properly and buy knowing what your getting and you'll be fine, not every car they sell is a duffer.

Agree on the T350. That was the red T350T. Especially the back end repair was horrible. Also water ingress into the cabin. No documentation whatsoever apart from reg. The grey C wasn't as bad, but boring colour combination and lacked some love. The price was to high not reflecting its state (in my opinion).Yes, I only found out when I arrived that it was a Cat C/D cant remember which and the repair work was very poor.

I disagree on the Sag however. I think the paint job was poorly executed, some DIY painting in the engine bay, some other minor niggles. Maybe connected to me disliking the colour altogether, however. Back then the price was ok-ish, but still to much for me. But was looking for a T350 anyway.
You have to talk to the personnel. They are really helpful and nice. They explain everything to you and in my opinion give a honest answer. They also give you plenty of time inspecting the car. You have to know your stuff and walk in with eyes wide open i guess.
Never heard their engines though.
