Insurance Doubled for no reason!
Discussion
Just got my renewal quote through for the Griffith and it's practically doubled this year and there's me hoping it'd go down!! After phoning a couple of people it seems that TVR insurance has definitely gone up. I'd read stuff on here about this happening but didnt really pay much attention but I wasn't expecting my own policy to almost double.
Does anyone have any recommendations apart from Peart, Privilege, Norwich Union and Sunninghill? Any help would be much appreciated as I hadn't budgeted for this!
Cheers - Chris

My insurance rose this year by over £50, which in turn was an increase of £15 or so on the previous year...so I changed, and told them why. And wouldyoubelieveit ... they reduced the premium twice to try to tempt me back, but they were still over £50 more than the one I eventually settled for - and £150 more that their original renewal demand.
Just phone around, and don't forget to tell your existing insurer that you are doing so!

My renewal came through this year and had nearly doubled. The renewal is with Chaucer through Sunninghill. I shopped around and managed to get the same cover, on a "modern classic" policy through Heritage (01212466060), at roughly the same price as last years, and the policy is with ????
Chaucer !!

I allways get my insurance though footman james, as they specialise in classic and prestige car insurance, they know full well your not gonna drive like a titt when your in your pride and joy that took you 7yrs to restore. give them a try.
Haven't got their number handy have you??
Had exactly the same problem when I had my renewal last year from Sunninghill on the V8S.
The quoted reason was "Chaucer no longer give discount/have altered the rules on classic policies". So I tried PEART who were about £200 less. Having said this I was quoted less again by Mannings on their stand at Cardiff P & P....So I'll probably give them a try this year

That's exactly the same reason why my insurance has gone up!!
...and mine! Not only that, my excess went up too! Mannings got my business this year.

Mine doubled this year with Classic Line, not there fault .Canbt remember exactly what happened but was do with Royal Sun decideding to stop Insureing these sorts of cars. Had been with Classic line for 6years with no one getting anywhere near them.
Now with Mannings who where the best by far for me.
Tesco's well they were more for the Grifith than Classic with thier new offer.

Had a phone around today and had some slightly better results. Peart, Classicline etc couldn't really do too well and the cheapest I've had by far has been with Privilege, especially when i put my girlfriend on the policy. Last years premium was £530 and can pretty much get that again whereas Sunninghill where a lot more than that! Will try Mannings tomorrow as I think I rather go with a company like them than Privilege.

i wouldn`t trust tesco, there under righters are direct line, thiefing BSTARDS.
I'd figured this out when I swapped my house insurance from DL to Tesco (both sets of documents are near-identical)... but Tesco WERE cheaper for the same spec policy.
As for the Griffith... try ClassicLine in Hinckley; they may offer 'future classic' status on it, especially if you have a clean claims history.

Have you tried AON ?
They do a Modern Classic Policy through Royal & Sun Alliance.

My insurance on the Chim went down this year !!
albeit by only £40
Still, 400 quid for a TVR in N.Ireland is not too bad.
