Private Waranty required

I am currently in the throws of purchasing a TVR. Generally I have limited my search to dealers however a chap I know has an '03 Tuscan S that I could potentially purchase.

The problem I have encountered is no one will sell me a private warranty for the vehicle. I have spoken to several dealers, numerous brokers (eg Warranty Wise, Warranty Direct etc) and TVR's warranty department, all to no avail.

Does anyone know of any companies willing to sell a private warranty?

Have you tried the RAC, they did me a good deal on an SLK 320 the other day.

They deal directly with the consumer as well.

Just called them and the answer was the same... its on the exclusion list.

Have you tried asking your friendly TVR dealer who they use to cover the vehicles they supply to their customers and then just go from there ??

Yep! The dealers use several of the brokers I have tried. The problem is these companies will only under write if it is through a dealer... ...it's tricky one!

They are covering my Tuscan but admittedly it was part of the dealer package but it might be worth a try.

AA? They have cover upto £1000 claim limit and three times a year! Have to take out breakdown cover with them to get it.

My Chimaera is covered as an add-on to my AA cover. Probably the cheapest option so long as you already have AA cover. There are limits as with any cover but it's less than £50/yr. The AA can do this because they already cover the vast majority of small-scale breakdowns under the normal cover.

I'm not sure what their "warranty" was, but on that same page their is a link to "parts & labour cover plus", that's what I took out, £99 per year, £1000 maximum claim x 3.

Theres an outfit called "warranty works" who offer a 1,2 or 3 year warranty on all TVR's. They will do a three year, £2,500 per claim and as many claims as you need up to the value of the car for about £1000 - £330 per annum which doesnt sound to bad. They have just sent me a policy through to cover my Cerbera. might be worth a look.

Spoke to the AA today. They tell me there is no intention to refuse renewal to existing customers. They are simply reconsidering things because there's been more money out than in. It is expected that they will tighten up the rules because they believe that people have been getting away with questionable claims. Watch this space.

The words on the web site do not represent the understanding of the AA P&L department.

It is however true that they are not currently taking on new customers.
