Extreme testing and manufacturing review backed by three-year warranty
The new regime at TVR is starting to make some significant changes, the first of which will address the marque's reputation for unreliability.
Having undergone a thorough review of the manufacturing process including testing in extreme climates, the British manufacturer is making a bold statement about its faith in its products by introducing a 3 year/36,000 mile mechanical warranty for all cars registered from 1st March 2005 (05 plate onwards).
Cars have been tested at high altitudes, at extreme temperatures, with low-grade fuel and at prolonged high speeds in Bahrain, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the USA. The driveline, air conditioning and heat shielding were particular areas of focus. Changes have been small, but many, with an emphasis on component durability and manufacturing consistency.
Back in Blackpool the focus has been on quality of components and the ways in which the cars are manufactured.
TVR's new head of Marketing Phil James said, "We think the improvements in quality and durability will be warmly welcomed. You can't see them but you will appreciate them every day you drive a TVR."
TVR's previous warranty term was one year/unlimited mileage with a two year/unlimited mileage term for the engine.

Either they have finally sorted the reliability or they will be bust fairly quickly due to huge warranty claims....
Let's hope its the former rather than the latter. If they can get the reliability sorted then it'll finally bring TVR to the door of the likes of Porsche on all fronts not just pure grunt.

However, for those of us with low milage S6 cars, we still are left with probable costly rebuilds and low residuals. It reminds me of a Kitchen manufacturer in Scotland which kept going bust, only to re-open in the same premises with almost the same name and the same staff saying none of the outstanding or shoddy work was any of their responsibility.
I am with JSG on this one, let's get a Speed 6 group together to press, with direct communication to NS and BS, for free rebuilds for blown engines with full TVRSH and low milage (?less than 30K). They know we would have a strong legal case. If they have really sorted the engine & componenmts, one visit to Blackpool or Coventry would sort the problem and the goodwill engendered would be enormous and lead to many new orders and improved residuals. ie everybody wins
Come on TVR do the right thing. Everybody knows how big a problem the early S6 was for owners AND the company. Put it right and let's go forward together.

Have to agree with most of that, at the very least, I think we should have a 'Subsidised' warranty offered by the factory itself, as I do find it distasteful to read that some owners are having to foot the bill for a full rebuild with little mileage o the clock for 2 year old cars!
