Spare wheel or tyreweld?

We are shortly to depart to Spain in the Tiv, problem being do I dispense with the spacesaver on the basis that I will have nowhere to put the full sized item in the event of a flat and carry a can of tyeweld or stick with the usual problem?
I understand that many manufacturers are just supplying Tyreweld instead of a spare (Aston Martin) but have no experience of the stuff?
Any comments?

Hi you two. Spacesaver wheel!!!!! You dont know how lucky you are. Us Tuscaneers are a hardier breed, not even suppled with one. Its tyreweld or nought for us.
I agree with previous post take two. Are you touring or in one place? as I know some people actually take a spare tyre with them or get one sent to destination as so hard to locate if the worst happens. You can bet your life it will be on a Sunday in the middle of nowhere.

you probably won't be able to get the tyre size you want locally for a day or two anyway!
could you get a toyo etc off the shelf in the UK...
so whats your chance espagnol?
tyre weld will get you to the garage (unless tyre is damaged) or your AA/RAC cover will.
superstitious, so won't mention how many euro miles i've done without my spare...its lots!

Carry Tyre Weld and one of those small cigar lighter powered compressors, about £12.
For the Tyre Weld to work properly, its best to jack the car up enough to take the weight off the tyre, fire the tyre weld in and finish off by inflating with the compressor.

I have had the misfortune of having to use this tyre weld, when I bought my MGF Trophy 160, I had a puncture in my brand new Eagle F1 tyre within a week!!
Used the tyre weld, great, it sets a week later! And once it does set, if you have inadvertently got any on your alloys, it is a complete nightmare to try and get off! and you will get it on your alloys, as the stuff pi@@ed out of the puncture hole! (although, with the benefit of hindsight, I would put masking tape over the pucture before applying the weld, which takes a week to set!!!!)

When we did a touring holiday in our Chimaera we put the space saver in the garage and carried two pots of Tyreweld - which I still have.
When I did a touring holiday in our Boxster S we travelled with the space saver Porsche supply.
And sure enough I popped TWO tyres on a pothole - had to be recovered to a garage who (fortunately) were able to source the tyres from Glasgow (I was near Loch Lomond at the time) and fit them and even arrange a hotel for the night for us.
More important than the Tyreweld is the Europe wide AA/RAC/other cover.
