3 YEAR WARRANTY!! SO WILL DEALER PRICES PLUMMET?

With the new TVR warranty, will this have an effect on the 2nd hand dealer market offering only a year at best?? Worth hanging around now to see if the prices drop??

TVR's current warranty say they warrant the car "blah blah blah etc etc" to the original owner. Therefore currently TVR's warranty DOES NOT PASS to the second owner. It will be interesting to see if their new 3 years/36000 mile warranty (which I very much welcome) will be also so written.

OK. What i mean is will people choose to buy new over a 2nd hand model?

I was going to get a 2002 Tamora from a dealer near me, about £26,000 i think. But now new cars from March have a 3 year warranty, will prices for older cars around the 25-30k range start to fall, IF people choose to buy new to benefit from a 3 year warranty??

And lets face it, would you pay say 30k for a car with around 5k on the clock with a year warranty, or a few grand more for 3 years peace of mind??

Why? Even if the Tam had a 3yr warranty from new it would have expired / almost expired by now. As it is your dealer will give you a warranty on it anyway which would take you past the point where the original warranty would have expired, if it had had one. If you see what I mean.

I don't think prices will plummet. The new warranty is a good tool/aide to help dealers sell new cars; plus TVR's confidence about their cars, will hopefully help boost or firm up TVR's second hand values.

Would you pay the extra £10-11k to get a newer car with a 3 year/36000 warranty? If you could justify the extra cost now, presumably you'd think hard about buying a current car with its 1 year car/2 year engine warranty?

I'm in this position and it's made me stop to think.
I was looking at a 32k t350 on an '04 plate in a private sale.

I'm now thinking of waiting for the next generation t350c (can't be far away surely as the current 350 is upto the 500 quota).

For my £7k extra I'll get to specify the car myself, get the latest model and get a better warranty.

TVR also claim to have made many little changes to the t350 to improve reliability following their testing so I figure the new car is a better bet as a daily driver (I also have a non-refundable deposit of £1,175 with TVR so that makes the prices closer).

I know TVR have modified the speed-6 engine, but I don't know when they made those changes. Many people have been told that they have the 'latest head design' though I've no idea if the '04 and '05 cars will have the same spec engine.

So, for my money, the older car would have to be reduced to cater for the above to get my money.

It's a personal thing though, I'm sure others will think differently.
