I am now perilously close to taking the plunge and leaving the safe, reliable environment of my Boxter S and purchasing a Tuscan S.
I am satisfied that I am going into it with my eyes open in terms of the usual TVR niggley stuff and making sure I end up with a 2003, with the Speed Six problems ironed out (as much as possible) etc.
One thing I am apprehensive about is the depreciation. I am expecting to get a 2003 car with at least 10-14k. This is for both reliability and purchase cost. Although I'm anticipating no more than 5k a year, will this leave me struggling to sell it in 12-18 months time with 20k on the clock.
Plus any other pearls of wisdom from existing or previous Tuscan S owners would be greatfully received.

Depends on what price you buy at, I guess. 5k a year depreciation would cover it for 2 years, I think, if you bought at the right price. But if you pay a big dealer premium, and sell back to a dealer, you'll be losing £3k at either end of ownership on top of depreciation in "real value".

Also, if you're only planning on putting 6000 miles on it and selling in 12-18 months, I wouldn't bother with such a new one - you're guaranteeing losing thousands upon thousands in depreciation for a car that you rarely drive. I'd say you ought to consider buying an early one with a new engine (to solve that worry) that won't lose more than 1-2k a year. Other than the engine, you're likely to experience largely similar issues with all of them - condition & up-keep will affect running costs & reliability more than age. You're simply paying for a new number plate, otherwise...

My car goes up on sale tomorrow with a new engine & 2 year warranty, incidentally...
