O.k. daft title, but at least it got your attention.

There is on the 20th March going to be a very special rumble. The Gorge Rumble at Cheddar in Somerset. Now this promises to be a sight and sound not to be missed, with 50 TVRs popping, banging and being generally obnoxious, and unruly.
Gail has been in touch with the local RO, who has welcomed us down, and asked whether we knew of any other Sussex Tivs that may be interested.

Over to you lot!!

We plan to leave Horsham on the Saturday 19th at about 11a.m. and take some of the best A roads in the south before stopping for a pub lunch (just for a change) just before Salisbury. We will stay with old friends at a B&B in Westbury-Sub-Mendip on Saturday.
On Sunday and Monday nights we have booked a room at the superb George Inn at Norton St. Philip.
This is a superb coaching inn with real character, and the reason we're staying 2 nights is simply because they do a special internet deal on Sunday and Monday nights.
If anyone wants to stay here there are rooms left for Sunday, but I think all of Saturday is now booked.
No details on the time of the Sunday rumble yet, will keep you informed.

Hi Phil,
Wow, you must be desperate, dropping Nuggs' name.

Welcome aboard, do you intend to stay in Somerset for a few days, or just doing the rumble?

Derek.

Oi - it's wet kipper time...

Sounds like a great idea Derek. I'm just trying to sort my life out before a six-month secondment (today's my last day in the office) and then I'll need to check my (woeful) financial state.

Hopefully I'll be able to make it.

If anyone finds a decent place to stay (the George being booked up) - please post some details on here.

+ = *

*Note the law-friendly order that I intend to do things in...

Hi Alex, the cost of the accommadation will vary depending on your length of stay. Our room is £120 for the 2 nights B&B. Details here
www.thegeorgeinn-nsp.co.uk
Ideally I would have liked to stay in the one place for 3 nights, but as the Saturday was booked we chose to B&B elsewhere.
Now I do appreciate that not everyones taste is the same. so we booked what we liked, and if it also suits others then that's great. If not, feel free to seek alternative accommadation, although it would be great to meet up in the evenings for a beer and a bite to eat.

Hope thats of some help.

Derek.

Hi Derek
Brain switched on today and I was reminded that I may be out of the country.Bummer.

So if its ok...to save any costs booking BBs etc my plan is :-

Meet up with you lot in Horsham Saturday am down to Salisbury etc.

Blag a bed off some mates I know in the cider and cheese county
then join up again to rattle the gorge on Sunday.

Phil.

Should be easy enough to get a good deal on accomodation.

March in South West = Out of Season = Cheap

If I can be of assistance with local knowledge, please feel free to ask.

Simon

Thanks for your offer.

I'll see how things go between now and the run.

I may well get back to you nearer the time.

Just thought I'd give this a quick boost in case anyone missed it.
A couple of people have expressed an interest in coming on the first part of the run for lunch only, and then back to Sussex. If anybody else is interested in a Saturday morning blat, then the more the merrier.
It should take about an hour and 40 mins to get to the pub just before Salisbury, along some superb stretches of road.

Cheers

Derek.

P.S. Can someone please do something about this crap weather!!

Hi Derek - don't know what route you are planning, but would Ye Olde Buck Barne MaccyD's be a good starting/meeting point, or is Horsham better?

I haven't arranged accomodation anywhere, so plan at the mo is just for the Sat run.

Hello Alex,
Definately Maccy Ds, Horsham on a Saturday morning would not be a good idea. Say 10.30ish for a 11.00 departure.
Is that also o.k. with you Phil.

See you soon

Derek.

Just caught the long range forecast, 18 degrees C on Saturday.
Could it be that Spring has finally sprung?
