Ok so I cheated - had time on my hands so swung by the factory in the hope of a quick tour. (didn't happen but hey ho)

Spotted the Saggy, presumably on a test drive at a junction (behind a Cerb on a LowLoader - unlucky). Copper Orange/Red and being driven very very carefully. Had factory plates but looked fantastic on the road.

Have to admit to my first bit of genuine stalking - who wouldn't. Drove up and down and got a view from all sides.

Ladies and gents this car is awesome. Haven't been too sure myself from photo's so far, thinking it's just a hacksawed 350. WRONG.

It looks bad, dangerous and ever so slightly illegal.

Drivers of this motor beware - people won't stop and stare - they'll come running after you.

...And you know what - even the exhaust looked ok, although the draught nearly knocked an old lady over on the pavement. The see-through spoiler? without being ironic, never noticed it.

My hat is off to TVR on this one - bring it on!!

Lucky man.

I have to say it had a very wierd effect on me the first time I saw one. I immediately gave thousands of pounds to a man I'd never met before. Until then I was supposed to have grown out of wasting money on fast, expensive cars.

Rumour has it that tvr are really, really pleased with the work they've done with bilstein on the suspension. It ought to be the best handling tvr ever.

I still think it needs the holes cut in it though. As it is it's only the second coolest car I've ever seen. Number one goes to the Sagaris prototype.

Was it the same one that was at Goodwood last year? Sounds like the same colour, but obviously was not the latest one.

Wasn't at Goodwood so unsure. However the wing slits were closed so maybe another one?

I'll e-mail you but I've tried before via ph and had no joy. Just in case, this is what I know about the wing slits (it comes from someone at the factory this week).

Mud and stone chips were an issue with the prototypes, as you would imagine, they tried blocking the holes with a variety of different things including the foam of the red motorshow car.

I suggested just lining the wheel arches and leaving the slits covered with mesh grills, which I know is equally dummy as an aerodynamic feature but for me would be the best option purely from a styling point of view. I was told that there was then a clearance issue with lined wheel arches. As far as I know no tvr has lined wheel arches either. So fair play to tvr I really think they tried to sort it but in the end had to take the decision to leave the mould un-cut. To me it's a big disappointment and I'll look into having them cut out myself, although I suspect I may bottle it!

sounds cool - only seen a poor pic of one in autocar. looks serious bit of kit.

hate to mention it here but do people think of that "weismann" thingy? will it impact tvr's sales?

Perhaps they were taking a spare out with them in case the Saggyarse had a hissy fit.

I think that is the "official" explanation. The alternative, yet still credible, explanation is that it costs too much money in labour to finish the slits off - about an extra 40 hours on top of preparing the body. Also presents challenges with channelling water in heavy rain.

I too suspect rouble pinching by NS which only makes it more disappointing.

As mentioned I'm thinking of having it done myself. As opposed to doing it myself!
