I borrowed Mrs U's Jeep to get to work this morning. Stuck it in 4WD to get out of the village, now it wont go back into 2WD.

Local Jeep dealer has taken it away. Hope he fixes it before Mrs U finds out.

Wife's got a Jeep too - They all do that sir!

If you haven't used 4wd for a while they are sods to get back out. Trick is to change in to 2wd when it's still on a 'slippy' surface and blip the throttle on and off. It will usually come out in a few hundred hards. Same technique to get it out on dry tarmac (floor the throttle/lift off/floor throttle at 20-40mph), only it can take a mile or more before it decides to go back to 2wd.

I'm sure there's some chargeable dealer 'fix', but we've always 'worked around' it.

had a go in a mates 911 GT3 at the weekend. Made my Chim seem very ordinary afterwards. Need to upgrade to a T350 RR or a Sagaris...Does anyone want to buy a kidney??

For the first time in 3 years of having silly RWD Tivs/Lotuses, I had to give in and take the 206 today... couldn't even get the Tusc out of the allocated parking, let alone onto the road!

Can't wait till I get my offroader.

Dunno if it's relevant, but my Disco is sometimes reluctant to unlock it's centre diff - the trick is to drive it a short distance in reverse...

In the cherokee i used to select neutral at the gearbox and roll to a halt, then it used to go 2wd again. Mine had the 4wd and lock not 4H/4L.Bit like Tivs these 4x4's
