A friend of mine just bought a Griff and when I sat in it on a quite gentle slope and depressed the clutch, the car started to roll away. He has just bought this car from a dealer and claims "they're all like that" and "that's the best the dealer could get".

Is this right or is he being shafted? In tandem with an on/off clutch, we, his friends, feel he may be being deceived.

My handbrake has always been good except for one time when the same thing as your friends happened. It seemed to have fixed itself again though. I don't think they're all like it.

They are notoriously bad, some work some don't.
The handbrake does need a bit of a pull though to get the final click.

Mine is like that unless you pull it REALLY hard to find an extra click - worth a try?

Push the footbrake when you apply the handbrake - it helps. Sounds like it was just not on hard enough, if you really can't find that extra click, then adjust the cable so that you can.

How many clicks do the rest of you pull it to? I pull it past 2 clicks.

3 clicks will just about do but I can get it to 4 which locks it up good and proper. Of course it doubles as an anti-theft device as no one else can get it off again! (Actually applying the footbrake makes it easier both on and off)

My "extra click" is the third one, and agree with GarryM re foot pedal helps.

Thanx. I'll pass it on if his car is still there. LOL.
