Wrapping exhaust y piece on a griff?
Discussion
Hi all
Sorry another question…
Exhaust wrap yes or no, I am looking to do it as my exhaust Y piece has lost its Cat in the rebuild and may have gone a lot louder? Not sure if this is correct but one solution is to wrap it to help reduce some of the noise… I am happy with some extra rumble it is a standard exhaust otherwise just don’t want it assault your ears if you’re driving for a few hours!!!
I am only going to wrap the Y section of exhaust not the manifolds / pre cats
So questions are
will it help reduce any noise down if it not that loud I will take it off, I don’t have any issues ( touch wood) with under bonnet temps
Will it damage ? rust or crack the Y section or manifolds (biggest concern)
If ok to wrap whose products are recommended, the section is not on the car so can do anything with it!
Thanks in advance

Wrapping it won't do anything to reduce the noise out of the exhaust (no cats and no silencers = 'F*ckmethat'sloud!!!') and won't do much (if anything) to reduce noise under the bonnet...

It most definitely does impact the noise though. Maybe not the level but the tone is softened dramatically. Wrapping the manifolds and the Y piece makes for a softer, more refined set of notes. Phil
