Tuscan Headlights stay on ??
Discussion
Sounds like a stuck/fused relay. Dive under the drivers side dash and pull the headlight relay. It's a generic one so your local auto parts supplier will likely have a replacement. Best to replace as it's cheap and will eliminate the chance of it reoccurring should the original relay unstick itself in the meantime and appear to work as normal again.
Thanks but tried that , swapped relay for one next to it and headlights came on again ! Just headlights, not sidelights or dash lights.
Maybe the switch ?
I tried the fuse first butI have realised I had pulled the wrong one , just been back to try the dipped bean headlights fuse but working normally again .
Either dipped or main beam would stay on ( depending on stalk switch) . Guess this rules out relays etc and points to main switch ?
When I turn headlights on the instrument panel doesn't dim as usual tho' , so something strange going on.
Think I'd best leave relay out tonight incase they come on again .

I had it but tbh I can't remember what it was although I do think it was something on the fuseboard and it was definitely damp related. On mine there must be some intermittent water leak from the A pillar area as my service specialists said there was some corrosion in there and I know the previous owner had a new fuseboard at one point.
That may fit , I took car out of garage this week to fit a new battery , unfortunately I was sent the wrong one, then another wrong one, and then another wrong one , AND then unbelievably yet another wrong one !!
Anyhow this meant car was sat outside and it pissed down most of the week .
No sign of any damp inside car or fuse box but may have crept in somewhere.
See if lights come on again although dash lights still don't dip with sidelights.
Should they do this ? I'm pretty sure they used to .

I did find the trim rubber on the screen was lifting at each end. Once I bonded it back I didn't have a repeat. That said I had also got a bit lazy about putting the cover on it. I also use a chemcial dehumidifier in the cabin when its not being driven.
No idea about the dash lights to be fair, I almost never drive it in the dark or in thunderstorms !

You should have said you'd already checked the relay and done some other diagnostics already. Such details are important when asking for help....just saying.
By elimination, it's either a faulty dash switch (check the switch line voltage goes on and off at the relay plug in unison with the switch), or more likely some wet has got in somewhere. Get it dried out (a good long hoon on a dry day and park undercover will usually sort it) , see if the problem goes away. If it does, you've a leak that needs to be traced and fixed as it'll only cause further gremlins.

Thanks for help ,
I hadn't tried anything to solve the problem when I posted original,
After jump starting it I took car for a good run but when I got back I had to do something to put lights out .
I take your point tho' re supplying information.
Lights still off and car tucked up in garage .
Thanks Dave
