No plate flash spray

Does anyone know if this anti-flash spray works on the number plates.
Thought i would ask before i go to silly mode.

It does to some degree, but bearing in mind, that a lot of speed cameras now have an alternative to 'flash', (infared if im not mistaken...), and no amount of 'refective-spray' will work with that!

get the letters cut out of very thin sketching paper and stick them on the back of the plate with a thin photographic film sealing the lot up... the plate plastic should be a special plastic which contains zinc particles.... put a small fillament heater behind the plate.... will cost a bit to get this up and working... but once done... you've got a camera proof number plate.... oh and dont forget to add a bit of reflective powder sandwiched between the photographic film and plastic... some kind of photon reaction takes place which results in a cloud-esque image which looks like trash... but also, infra-red picks up the heated zinc particles rather than the text itself...
dont know if this has been proven, but got the info from some very clever chaps....

any chance of you asking those clever chaps where on earth you'd get transparent plastic impregnated with zinc particles, and reflective powder. do you have to put it all in the oven at gas mark 4?

That's what they say over here but in the US they say the opposite and suggest it does work. I'm keeping an open mind on this. It won't work with truvelo but maybe it might work with rear mounted gatso? On the other hand a bit of mud is bound to work for forward/rearward traps of any type.

If I knew, many sites all over the net discuss all kinds of ideas from something viable to something quantum leaps away... I dont even know if it works... anyone care to do the science and see if it works?

All these systems (which don't work incidentally) have one drawback - under car headlamps, they exhibit the same effect.

So, get followed by BiB at night, and get pulled, and fined.

Do you think they could arrange the particles in order to spell something different? Perhaps a little message of commiseration to the Speed Camera people?

The hot zinc won't work. Well not without flaming the No plate. Speed cameras with IR detectors work in the near infra red. Thermal imagers work in a completely different frequency band. The main point of IR detection such as on SPECS/Truvelo cameras is to read the plate without flash so as not to blind oncoming drivers. An IR illuminator (The boxes either side of the camera on SPECS) uses light outside the visible spectrum to light up the plate for the camera which is capable of imaging A LITTLE outside the visible spectrum but the temperature needed for the plate to radiate actively in this part of the spectrum is several hundred degrees.

True thermal imagers capable of resolving something as detailed as a No plate at ambient temperatures would have to be physically very large and would cost an astronomical amount of money (beyond the profit making capacity of the Scamera perhaps?), you may recall seeing the blobby green glow of some thieving turd being pursued by police taken from the imagers on their helicopters and shown on grimewatch(sic).

Retroreflective materials generally work in the near infra red as well as visible spectra.

If you really want to avoid the scameras, just run around without any plates. probably unwise around town, but when was the last time anyone saw a cop out of town? it's very rare around nottingham. oh, and it's only £30 non endorsable fine

have to say, I don't do this but if I was driving to london and wanted to avoid the congestion charge....

It'd be bit of a blob to explain how "both" came off without you noticing? Probably get charged for driving without due care and attention and negligence and all that... which I believe can put you behind for a few months in its extremest form...
