Scratches that is,

My Cerb's been recovered twice in the last couple of weeks, I've just washed it & noticed three stripes where the lorry's straps have been.

Am I wasting my time calling the recovery company ?

If it was recovered thru the AA or someone like that report it to them first - they should register it as a claim and they are insured for it. Same thing happened to me when the AA collected for a clutch problem and they managed to put a couple of dings into the paintwork before it was delivered to Tower View. If not then i would say def report it as damage that was not there before and which clearly matches the strapping positioning and see what they say.

Where on the bodywork are the scratches?

My Griff was picked up by the RAC (or rather their contractor). Multi Grand paint job and damn, it came back with down to the panel scratch on the wheel arch from ...yes the securing strap. Took pics, pursued the RAC and eventually the RAC's contractor had to pay the repair bill - about £1700).

They damaged it, they fix it.

Go for it - it's only fair.

And the other side of the story...

My Griff was picked up from my house (loose spade connector on the fuel pump that I couldn't get at without a ramp). The bloke who collected it was extremely knowledgeable, talked to me about how he was going to get it on the truck (not simple - my drive is on a very steep hill, and drops on to a fast junction), and was at least as anal about its care as I am myself. He padded every strap with rags, and I am told by my garage that he took as much care at the other end.

The company was contracted in, and I think they're worth a plug. They're called Freeways. I think they're in Weedon (near Daventry), and it was a Scottish chap who collected my car.

to stick up for the AA, mine got flat beded a month ago, and they bloke was great too. very very careful. noticed every wee scratch on it (even ones I hadn't) before hand and made sure I was happy with every part of what he was doing to get it on back of lorry.

straps were put only round wheels.

top marks to them that time.

One on the drivers door & two on the passenger door, all three are vertical.

Spooky, it was the AA & they recovered it for two clutch problems inside a week. I've just spoke to them & they've asked me to post them a quote.

I must say, apart from that, they have been excellent, even paid for my new clutch via their £99 parts & labour cover.

I felt guilty calling them about my paintwork, but I've not long had the whole car painted.

why feel guilty, it's their job to recover cars and as such they should be trained properly so as not to damage the car any more than it already is
