Dear all

Excuse the introduction - I usually lurk about in the Kit Cars section, but a project idea has led me over here.

I am hoping to track down a set of body panels for Tuscan Challenge - either a new set, used.. or bruised / battered bits and pieces to get a full set of bodywork cobbled together. Condition not important - let me explain why :

The reason? Well there is a growing trend in kit car circles to rebody a production car to something more exotic, be it MR2s or MX5s. My idea is to do this with BMWs rather unloved Z3 and I think that a tuscan lends its lines rather well to the BMW's underpinnings - plus you get a 2.8 or 3.0 straight six, rear wheel drive and (cough) rather good reliability too. ( Google 'Bertini GT25' - not my taste, but a similar idea )

The Tuscan bodywork would need to be carefully cut and shut to form up a new buck and maintain balanced proportions.. but end result would be a panel set to create an affordable, tuneable sportscar with Tuscan-esque lines. (And no - not for one minute would I ever consider sticking a TVR badge on it. Its not a replica in any way shape or form)

I fully anticipate the howls of derision (!) but if anyone can help in sourcing some old GRP panels or suppliers, I would be most grateful.

many thanks

Richard

Thanks for replies - and yes I would dearly love to own a real one but sadly out of my price range !

The idea is a useable everyday car with tuscan style lines - not a replica. Besides a lot of folks on the street simply wouldn't know what the original was anyway . Which avoids the trap that so many of those naff ferrari kits fall into..
