Picked it up last night
, very smooth but rapid power delivery and doesn't run out of puff up to 6Krpm. Paul/Mark commented that it spolls up very rapidly on the RR. The actual uncorrected wheel figures will improve a bit as the barometrics on the day were extremely low at 990 ish apparently.
It'll never have the torque of the bigger engines, the actual figure has been higher before but the levelness of it, over 235 lbs between 2K5 -> 6K rpm makes for smooth progress.
The pipe is a bit of a compromise in as much as you have to release it from the AFM when lifting the bonnet. The plu to its siting is that it has one bend and only loses 3hp when compared to a straight pipe connected directly to the AFM.

As you know got mine on the Rollers on Thursday, not as strong figures as yours but very happy all the same with the improvements made. The car feels much stronger in every gear and pulls much better than before. I havent got the scanner here as I am at my parents place so cant show the graph. The figures were 231bhp and 260lb ft of torque. Like yours mine has around 235lb ft of torque between 2,200rpm - 5000rpm so strong right through the range, due to the TVR51 CAM. The power is down on what it should be, as after the work was done by Dom at TVR-Power some years ago the power was 240bhp and the starting point on Thursday was only 203bhp. According to Dom the power loss is almost definitely down to worn lobes on the camshaft, so thats the next job me thinks
If I can get mine near to 260bhp and slightly higher torque figures I will be a happy man!
Well done someone is going to get one hell of a fast car when you find the Cerb......!

looks impressive.any chance of making the figures on the scales a little more legible please
edited to say:-i hope the bhp and torque cross over at 5200rpm do they? if not (it really doesn look like it)then the figures are completely wrong by what ive been told.apparently if they dont cross at 5200rpm then the calculations have to be wrong.an easy way to spot a fraudulant type of graph (or genuine error of course) often used by unscrupulous companies to please the lax power brigade etc.hope this isnt the case-sorry.

Mike tbh at 235 I'd be very surprised if there is anything wrong with the cam,re an increase in Torque much above current figures again tbh and IMHO to get much more out of a NA 4ltr you are going to struggle, 280 max.
I realise that it should have had 240 to begin with but 203 is not a bad starting point,a lot of 4ltr cars will struggle to have that at the end.
Mongoose as Peter says the Torque and Power curves have to be on the same scale to see the 5252 cross over. If you extropolate my figures you will see it is so
. Deffo no smoke and mirrors here. I prefer the weheel figures as the best indicator, as I said before mine is currently putting down 230+bhp
. On the same RR most 'well' 5ltr's will put down 210-230bhp but will have around 300lbs of torque (corrected). Even then most do not spool up as quickly i.e. accelerate on the rollers

cheers harry,its only after its been pointed out about the graph that you realise how obvious this is-doh

although I can't quite work out at the moment why the power at the wheels and power at the flywheel dont tend to converge towards the origin .. rolling losses usually increase with roller speed, but in this case they don't appear to .. you have a very inefficient transmission at low speeds and progressively gets more efficient as revs rise and then remains constant losses further up according to this graph ...strange .. any explanation?

All i can think of Joolz if the revs dont start till 2000 and the bhp starts at 45
P,S the pic is not flat its a photo not a scan so this can distort the graph

Harry, agree with a standard 4ltr I would be happy and TBH I am as I dont really NEED more power, my grin is big enough, would just be nice to get the best out of the engine
Will be interesting to see what Kennys car (gifdy) puts out on the rollers when he comes down to Austec as he has just had the work done by Dom that mine had, so this will make up my mind as to whether to have the Camshaft replaced, so come on Kenny book the car in with Mark and lets see the figures!
