No bids yet i see, if you could get that for £3500 it would be a steal, I notice it's one of the V8Racing engines, nice.

You can buy it now for £3500 and it's fully built

Is V8Racing seperate from V8D , or is it Robs from V8Ds other 'job' .

i think these are sold via rob himself as opposed to V8D, but either way can can be sure they'll be top.

you won't get much for your old block as he will COMPLETELY rebuild.

still cracking value and either way, anything rob builds under whatever name gets my vote!

That's a nice looking product and some tasty parts to. Forged pistons don't come cheap for rovers.

Gotta say I was tempted when I came across it yesterday..

550 SEAC has a certain ring to it

I hardly dare ask, but what's the bottom line by the time you've built up a running engine with appropriate spec bits?

Well, the bottom end is the stuff you can't find easily. Onto that you can fit almost all of the other rover parts, even stock parts will do if you have a donar engine. I've built a 5.4 but that wasn't using custom pistons so to lower the c/r I had to use buick 300 heads which were fine albeit it old and a bit crap in terms of casting quality. They had big ports though

V.V. Nice - who ever buys it should treat it to some Wildcat heads if they really want to get near the quoted power numbers. 450 sounds pretty optimistic though.

i'd like to see what power/torque it would make on just a bottom end swap on a 4.5/5.0 with a remap.

Seems a very reasonable price to me

wonder what a second hand 4.5 bottom end fetches on ebay

You could use heads from a 450 Chimaera but the top end would be stangled , it would make stump pulling torque though, but with "standard" tvr 500 heads ideal as they have very large porting and massive valves.

From my limited experience it will have mega torque but will need something special to get the air in at the upper end.

I'd always go turbo but no doubt Rob has something special in the head department. Could be bigger valves, or different heads. I've seen the high port buick heads from the grand national and they buzzed to much higher rpm's then most rovers. Those ports can be copied if you know what to do. It should rev well as the forged pistons will be lightweight, lighter then stock. So if you can up the revs and get the air in then it could make 450. At what rpm though, that is the question. Any takers.
