just had a look at this site, www.ecotekplc.com and wondered if anyone has had experience of fitting this device. They make some incredible mpg claims on the basis of it reducing the fuel droplet size by swirling the plenum air/fuel mix

I don't know if they work, but the technical explanation on their web site is total b*llocks so I don't hold out much hope. There is always a market for these gimicks and there is always somebody ready to be convinced they really work. But I have read of numerous investigations into these gadgets, fuel additives, oil additives and general good luck charms. In every case, a double-blind test demonstrated there was no measurable benefit. Do you have any idea how much money Ford, Honda and Peugot spend trying to improve fuel economy by a few %? If these gadgets worked, don't you think they would fit them as standard? The best way to improve emmissions and fuel economy is to make sure your car is properly set up for economy as well as power. I've got to believe that as soon as you fit the widget, you spend more time / attention on the fuel consumption to see if it works. Consequently you change your driving behaviour subconciously. I suggest spending a few weeks strongly imagining you've fitted the widget first & see if that helps. If it doesn't make a difference, then try it for real....

Sad I maybe, but I find I can get good mpg (better than most with the same/similar car). Which I think is down to doing obvious (well to me) things: i)Make good use of gears. ii)Slow down approaching traffic lights, and try to avoid stopping. ii)Good observation/anticipation of other road users/conditions, to avoid repeated decceleration/acceleration. This all goes out the window when 'out for a blast'. Who needs widgets! Sparks

have to agree with you on all counts there Peter, if it was so good the major oil companies would buy the rights and bury it, like that guy in Norfolk who made fuel out of chicken **** or something
