Does anybody have a good recommendation as to which type of adhesive would be best suited for sticking my heat cover back to the bonnet where it's come adrift a bit on the Griff?

Thanks

I tried several adhesives to try to stop the heat insulation dropping down from the bonnet of my S1 and affecting the throttle linkage.

This was the only one that worked:

Gorilla Glue is brilliant stuff! Follow the instructions, it is water activated, so you need to apply it and then spray with water before sandwiching the insulation to the bonnet. It takes a while to set and cure though.

I've a feeling that I read (in the 'Bible'?) that you could use a 'no-nails' type adhesive, although I can imagine that it could create a headache if you ever wanted to remove the material later.

Thanks - I've been doing some research since posting the question and this seems a decent choice.

This is what I've used on a number of occasions:

I've never had to re-stick again!

Evo-Stick Impact adhesive is good. I've used it to glue reflective heat-shield above my race car's exhaust.

No More Nails tape, No mess, easy to use, ensures you get the shield held in just the right place and then the heat cures it in place, the heat shield will not come off.

Held mine on for the past 6 years.

Be honest, if your heat shield has fallen off, you may as well get a nice new shiny one to put on and then you never need to take it off ever.

Hi John

I have done this recently on my 3000s and from the tails of wow i hear from others where they complain that no matter what they try it keeps coming off.
I took the approach that in order to get it to stay on start again from scratch removing all old glue down to fiberglass and use new heat shield blanket they apply high heat adhesive this should give you the best results

Thanks all for your input. Plenty of options, it would appear.
