Discussion
I've been pondering this a lot over the last week as I get closer to buying an S.
Is there a problem with sound quality from speakers if they are mounted to fibreglass. Iknow, I know, I should be listening to the engine, but I need some tunes to back that exhaust note up
How, and where do you fit speakers? I'm guessing in the panel behind the seats and in the doors, but again, will the sound quality be affected?
Any help... appreciated

I have had my V8s nearly a couple of months now, and I still have not turned the radio on. with an ACT exhaust I have instant music !
I had an S3 a few years ago and again the same, it had a mutlichanger and loads of speaker fitted, you couldnt hear it if you wanted to.
My S3 did have 2 6x9 on the rear panel behind the seats.
Good luck with your S hunt !

Most car speakers are mounted to plastic, so it really makes no difference. Biggest problem you'll have to overcome is the extra noise, because its a soft top. Not really much you can do about that, but I'm just about to fit a small active subwoofer in the boot (only 4 inches deep). See my threads on it in the Chim forum.
Not really. I found that it would help if you fitted larger door speakers on the S as they came with 4" as standard I think. I ran a set of 4" with a 4 x 40w head unit and had no problems, even when I fitted the big exhaust.
I'm not too sure about the rear panel though. Some people have 6 x 9s fitted in it. I've heard reports of the sound becoming a little muddy though. A good set of 6 or 6.5 in the door with a decent head unit and you'll be fine. A small sub would be good, but it would kill the boot space, especially when you wanted to fit the roof in there.
To mount them you mount them directly to the door panel.
