how does decatting fair with getting an MOT??????

Depends on the age of the car - if it is pre 92 (I think - although someone will correct me if I'm wrong) then cat's weren't mandatory so you can take them off.

Cats aren't mandetory for an MOT IIRC. Omission levels however, are less achivable in a car that was designed to run with cats if they are taken out.

There are reports in other forums that suggest re-mapping can acheive acceptable ommission levels.

Fully removing all cats will pretty much result in failure at MOT time, my understanding is that you can remove the precats with no problems but main cat best left in place.

Goes by engine No, not car age.

mine has a pre-cat 500 going in so doesn't need them.

as i understand it, you can't get a 500 to pass without the main cat. pre-cats didn't affect mine, still passed but main cat was no go.

BTW, i don't reckon you gain much by a full de-cat, except more noise. Engine does seem to rev freer if you have the right induction, but no more power.
