I mentioned I saw this in a previous thread.
Spoke to the guys at Silverstone, bascially a Sagaris test drive, but on the track! how cool is that, I explained I didn't have any of the cars mentioned and this wasn't a problem.
Sent in my application, can't wait for next Tuesday

So as the previous owner of the Cascade Copper Tuscan S and now a M3 owner (shame I hear people shout) I get to drive a Sagaris around Silverstone!!

...bring it on!

We would just like to clarify that although this is an all day an event, booking a day off is not mandatory as guests will be allocated a specific time slot of their choice (where possible), which will last for about an hour. Oh and did we mention it is free to attend...

I've been told to get there at 11:30 for an 11:50 introduction to the battleaxe. I'm looking forward to seeing how much TVR have improved the car.

...might be worth reading this week's Autocar twin-test between the Sagaris and the Noble M400 before you bother!

Hi Simon,

Competition is always good for the breed and even better for the customer. The opportunity to compare first hand is too good to miss and the guys at Silverstone TVR are to be congratulated on setting up the opportunity - a first for a dealer to show such an initiative? They also did a good job getting people out in the car despite the fog closing the track for most of the morning. A bit chilly but well worth the effort of attending.

Thanks for the link to the article, I'll read it with interest.

Hi Washy:

Good to see you today. See link below...

I don't feel inclined to rib Noble anyway (vive la difference!) as I genuinely believe the car world is richer - and more fun! - for having specialist marques.

Had a great morning at Silverstone and thanks to all concerned

It was a little overwhelming having both my first drive of a TVR and my first drive on the GP circuit at Silverstone at the same time
But I managed to keep it out of the kitty litter.
First impressions are good
The car will now be a contender for my next "plaything"
Having driven the Noble as well (not the 400) i'm just pleased that we have such choice here in the UK and it's not essential to look to Europe for our pleasures

Thanks again TVR Silverstone I will be in touch....

Thought that was just another cheap "let's knock TVR" comment from an envious owner of some other sports car, but then I saw your occupation...

I also think it is great we have a choice.

I think they're both great cars, very close in terms of performance/handling. Maybe the Noble has the edge. However, it is just an edge. Owning a 50k car is about more than just whether it's a micro second quicker to 60 or 0.001g better on a certain bend (read the US mags and the whole world seems to revolve around g forces and rather unrealistic 0-60 times for all kinds of cars). The Noble is a Fantastic car to drive. So is the TVR. But how often are you going to use that 0.2 seconds to 60mph or that tiny fraction of cornering G on a public road? In real-life I think the outright performance is less of an issue and day-to-day ability come into play - where TVR excel. In addition, the Noble has no boot and is much less practical than the hatchback TVR. We're going down to the South of France in a few weeks time - I'd never convince the girlfriend to go in a Noble (similar to an Elise/Caterfield in her book), but she prefers to take my TVR to her Audi even. This is what I mean - useability.

This is where I think the difference between the cars lies: Sit in a Noble and it is nicely screwed together and feels the part for a track monster. However, it doesn't feel a special place, whereas a TVR does. See a Noble on the street and it looks great, see a TVR on the street (esp. a Sagaris) and you see people mouthing "what the flock?!?" (in a good way).

Out of interest, how much is the M400, 'cause I honestly haven't a clue. Rich...

Not knocking the competition now, and I never have done in the past.

Specialised cars like TVRs and Nobles will always polarise opinions and passions, so I hardly made my (light-hearted) post with the intention of attracting sales for the M400!

Apologies if my one-liner caused offence.
