Selling the Chim
Discussion
Well the Chim is going to be out of Austec soon and its going to have a brand spanking new paintjob (due to a chav applying a nice white strip all the way round the car). With this in mind could i ask for a higher price than normal? I was thinking about £10K for the car (specs below), but i don't know if this was a very generous price or if it could be a bit higher.
the Car:
4l HC engine 1996 P plate
45,000 on the clock
MOT and TAXed, CD player and all other normal stuff
I think that there is a service due in about 1000 miles though.
So how much do you think that i should be asking for a quick sale?
Thanks
D3ano

that was quick d3ano - you havent had her long??
For £10k you wouldnt just get a quick sale, but people banging down your door. I agree that £11k should see it go quickly.
I know, its a shame to see it go. But the lady wants a more practical car (4door, air bags, abs etc). I think that she is giving me a hint that a new member of the family is required.

Well we've just had one of those, but the Chim is Staying !! I reckon if it went now, we'd never make the effort/excuses to ourselves to buy another one.. a lot easier to make the effort to keep the one we have.
I've read a few of your posts D3eano regarding the car. I was just interested to see how you got on with it. (I sold it to you in case you wonder who I am!) I was really angry when I found out someone keyed the car. The paint job was pretty good when you got it!
Anyway. I hope you enjoyed the 9Kish miles and that someone else enjoys it.
Cheers,
Jamie.

Jamie the car has been a joy. A few niggles with the bushes at the front (Austec said that who ever put them on didn't do it correctly), cracked rad, master cylinder leaking, sump seal needed replacing, power stearing pump leaking, oh and who ever put the head gasket in needed a slap as they put a cork
one on. So replaced all of them and put it through a service and its running fine. It was driven all through winter and not a problem (touches all wood pannels and rubs lucky rabbit foot
)just had to put on 2 new rear Bridgestones. Like you read car is now having a full re-spray so it going to look the mutts nuts, but i/we will only be able to enjoy the car for probably a day or so as it really needs to go to a good home. How is life without a Chim? Gotten over it yet? Any pointers as i will now have to do the same

You had a few niggles then, strange, as I didn't really. The power steering leaked, but I got that fixed and that was about it.
I'm puzzled by the bushes. Offord Motor company fitted them and are usually pretty good. You should have taken it back there and complained.
As I'm in he USA now, I don't see any TVR's, so it's not so bad. I have since had a daughter and now have an Audi A4 (3.0 quattro though) which isn't so bad. I quite like the look of the new Ford Mustang though.....
