Help! Who's got an old Pioneer cassette/radio?

Just yesterday, I removed a Pioneer from my car, to replace it with a CD player.
Model of the old Pioneer radio cassette is KEH-P4800R, but strangely the manual that came with it is for KEH-3600 and KEH-2600 series.
Obviously not your exact model, but let me know if there is any specific info which might be helpful.

Thank's, I mainly need the info regarding storing pre-set radio stations.
Problem at the moment is each time you switch the unit off it loses all of them.
Sounds like it may be wired up wrong.
According to the wiring diagram in my manual, there should be a red wire on the main connector block which is wired to 12V ignition (ie. no supply when the ignition is off), plus an orange wire which is permanent 12V live.
I'm guessing that you may not have this orange 'permanent live' feed connected up properly?

The unit is permanently live, you can switch it on and off regardless of the ignition key!
Yes, that's normally the case...you have the two live feeds (permanent live, and live switched on ignition), both so that the 'memory' is preserved and so that you can listen to the radio with the ignition off...it is bad practice to leave the ignition on on a car while the engine is not running, 'cos it will cook the coil!
However if the radio is playing when while the engine is running, and you switch the ignition off, the radio will usually sense the change and turn itself off (on the basis that most of the time this will be what you want to happen). You can turn it back on again by pressing the 'on' button on the radio.
...Anyway, bottom line is that you need to pull the radio out, remove the connector block on the back, then using a multimeter or test bulb, check that the orange wire is permanently live and the red wire is only live when the ignition is on .
I'm sure the wiring colours will be standard on all Pioneer units of approximately that date of manufacture (mine is a 1993 model).

Trouble is, if it is wired up wrong (ie. no permanent +12V to preserve the station memory), then you would suffer the same problem if you bought a shiny new CD and plugged it in to the same wiring.
Must admit, I couldn;t live without a CD player, even in the Griffith, these days.

just removed my KEH3430B manual from its original unopened packaging!!
There's not alot in the manual, according to the diagrams its should be wired up through red, blue and black(earth) connections.
To enter a frequency into the preset memory it says 'hold down one of the preset button (1-6) for approx two seconds' ... pretty much the same as most radio's really and the same as M@H suggested.
FYI mine works with or without the ignition and is crap on AM but ok on FM.

Was just 'surfing the net' in hopes of finding something(someone) that could help me when I came acrossed your postings re: the Pioneer radio. I too have a older Pioneer radio that I just put in my old '85' Ford Bronco II, but my problem is changing the setting of the clock??? No matter what buttons I push I can't seem to make the bloody thing respond
.........Any chance you guys could help me w/this?
