TVR opens London showroom

Flagship A4 site marks TVR's return to capital

TVR will open its new flagship London showroom on the Hogarth Roundabout, Chiswick on 1 May 2005. The landmark site on the A4 has been shrouded by hoardings for some months but last week three 96-sheet lightbox billboards revealed the identity of the new occupants.

About 300,000 cars pass the site every day on the main route between central London and Heathrow Airport, so TVR reckons that "car sales locations do not come much more visible than this".

TVR London marks a return to the UK capital, an important part of TVR’s development strategy. Owner Nikolai Smolenski remains committed to investing heavily to take TVR onto the world stage. Since his arrival TVR has:

  • Undertaken overseas hot- and cold-weather testing programmes
  • Improved quality
  • Launched the Tuscan Mk2 Targa and Sagaris
  • Introduced a 36 month/36,000 mile warranty
  • Entered into talks with distributors all over the world.

The 500sq.m showroom will display up to eight cars and comprises a specification area where customers can choose from the myriad of paint and leather combinations to create their bespoke TVR. TVR London also has secure underground parking for over 20 cars.

Marketing man Phil James said, “A high profile London presence is essential for any premium British brand. UK trends are centrifugal from the capital and London is also a leading world stage. The location of TVR London on the main thoroughfare between the world’s busiest airport and Central London maximises our exposure and it is a vital component in our international development strategy.”

Sounds exciting! Anybody know who the new sales team are/will be? Bit close to The TVR Centre at Barnet perhaps?

The accompanying pic suggests TMS may have an involvement??

If so, this will add further fuel to the rumour that James Agger has been enticed back from semi-retirement, with a very lucrative contract.

Let me scotch that one: I chose the pic because it shows a new TVR, not because of any connection with TMS. Sorry for any confusion.

Thanks Manek,

So no involvement from TMS.... but the Jamer rumour could run a little longer?

Nice thought Oggs...

...but a dealership's not for me.

On no!..I've spent far too much time watching Blythy; who barely able to scratch an existence, (he will insist on adhering to that pitiful pricing policy) ... still manages to find personal items to pawn, in order to provide some basic food and shelter for his needy, undernourished, but essentially healthy family.

I haven't the heart to begin to approach him about some sort of meagre remuneration for myself. A daily sanctuary to get away from the wife, is all I ask.

The Peugeot dealership is still on the Chiswick roundabout. The new TVR dealership is on the Hogarth roundabout on the site of an old pub - I was wondering who it was being built for.

doesn't everyone use the Heathrow shuttle into Paddy ?

...mind you I can't imagine too many thrusting US execs will be queueing up to take one back with them.

Good point about what does this do to the TVR Centre, though I s'pose HR Owen in Brompton Road used to co-exist (albeit at peak TVR time with Griff/Chim/Cerb etc)

More amusing is the fact that 100yds from Hogarth Roundabout is AFN's Porsche & Lambo showroom. Should give them some decent competition....

sure is,
Hogarth roundabout is the one with the military style single lane flyover from A316, what a great location with massive audience
