Could the 3 year warranty bury TVR?

Interesting reading in Car Magazine ( I am very Pro TVR BTW) suggesting that if 3 year warranties are offered and the product isnt improved accordingly ( a la Land Rover discovery, De Lorean and GM)the warranty costs could be enough to cripple the company.
Im sure someone on here could do the figures and work out how many cars ( potentially 3000 - 4000) in 2008, would still be valid to make warranty claims, sometimes as much as 500-100 a time ( and more).
Like I said, im very pro TVR but could this be a cuse for concern? what would happen if yopu sunk 50k into a Sagaris ( as I am tempted to) only for the company to go t1t5 up in 18 months because of warranty claims. Am I then left with a 50k lemon with no parts availabilty and back up?

its a valid post but I think there is enough SP6's out there for someone to set up a business to support this should the worst happen. My concern is not the first 'bust' or the fact that PW is no longer in charge......stablility and long term ownership is v important and is why despite everything else TVR have outlasted all the others. It's the second, third and fourth rescue in say 5 years is when we all will feel a little worried. For now just BUT IT !! We shouldnt live our lifes with what if's ?
I would say that the one year warranty cost the company a huge amount (and was possibly the thing that brought it to its knees) because of the frailty of the early Speed 6 engines. I also think that the Speed 6 is now mature enough to cope and that NS would not have sanctioned it if the engine was in the slightest way suspect. He may be a fan, but he's there to make money.

Don't want to sound like the devil's advocate, but it could be one of those warranties that don't warrant anything as soon as anything on the car goes wrong.

I thought it was comprehensive too (though I'm not sure about paint).
The TuscanS had a 2 yr warranty, I thought it was the same cover, just for an extra yr?

I've not seen the new warranty wording, but I am sure TVR will have done their sums. I guess that the warranty will be part under-written by TVR and part by a warranty/insurance company (to offset/cover TVR's losses), although you'd always claim through the TVR dealer.
I am sure the warranty will be "worded to encourage" the owner to get his car serviced on time and only by a TVR appointed dealer.
However, I imagine the new warranty will be like the existing warranty which clearly states TVR only warrants the car to the orginal purchaser. So if you buy a six month old car, you won't have 30 months warranty left....

Very interesting!! and as a % how many buyers of 'New' TVR's actually keep them 3yrs? Not many!
So unlike just about every other manufacturer in the land TVR's warranty is not transferable... no free lunches as they say and all that!

Dig your car's filofax out and if it's the same as the T350 one in front of me now (for a 2003 spec car) look at page 63, paras 1.(a) General Warranty Coverage and then 1 (b) Body Warranty; and even para 1(c) makes interesting reading. It keeps saying to "the original owner".
Having said that, last year I sold a Tuscan which had had an engine rebuild 11 months and some 2000 miles earlier, which then went wrong for the new customer. Credit where it's due, TVR fixed it FOC!

Not only that but TVR will not have made the bold '3 year warranty' statement without getting the wording right in the small print.
Goodwill is the keyword, and the price paid on purchase covers that.
