I know that TVRs powered by LS engines divide opinion...but how do they make a TVR sound? One of the attractions of a TVR to me is how they sound as they rumble / snarl down the road especially T cars. Does the LS effect this adversely in any way? Opinions please.....

Youtube is your friend.

'Sound' is personal. One man's Pavarotti is another man's scratchy blackboard.

lol, im at work and Youtube is blocked..hence my desire to hear opinions from guys who know what they sound like. Would i be as happy in a tunnel listening to an LS as i was with the S6?

It depends on so many things. the specific LS engine, NA or supercharged, lumpy or mild cam, straight through exhaust or not.

Yup so many things can change it. My ls3 has ranged from fire breathing to smooth and now I'd say is a refined yet TVR like noise. Had a few pops and bangs mapped in toward top end when I let off but nothing excessive. However when you end up in a tunnel it sounds like hell is opening up! I bloody love tunnels it just sounds vicious I think is the best description I can think of.

I will certainly miss it when I get round to advertising it frown

I don't think you'd ever find a v8 TVR that didn't sound good in tunnels. There is something special about the sound of a chim though I think

It's also nice to rattle a few shop windows in a town centre.

Sportmotive's LS3 's sound epic. There's a grey LS3 430 Sportmotive Griff on the dyno at last years growl. It will give you a good impression. I've ordered a similar one! ;-)

As others have said. It’ll be personal opinion and each setup will vary.

For example. I had a cammed 3.5 Rover V8 in my TR7. Which I replaced for a 3.9 Rover V8. The 3.9 is running the same carb and exhaust but sounds quite different.

I also currently have two LS1 powered Camaro’s with different exhausts on. These both sound different to each other and sound completely different to a Rover V8. Neither better or worse. Just different. And none sound like a 6 cylinder TVR.
