After quite a while with NS in charge, what have we got?
1. Two 'new' models - we've known about for ages, neither being NS era designs
2. 36 month warranty - yet to be really tested
3. Speed 6 reliability - yet to see medium or long term
4. A nice new showroom in London - which is nice (but quite a few old established dealers dropping the marque)
5. Bits of trim falling off on the telly - not in line with supposed superior build quality - have they thought of changing the glue supplier?
6. Some lay offs - common TVR practice from time to time or worrying symptom?
7. No factory support of motorsport
8. No Cerbera (or any other 2+2 - yes I know the Typhon is coming - and I'll believe it when I see it)
9. Loss of PW era design team
10. BS 'in charge' (?)
How does this add up for you?
Do we know if the company has a viable order book?
I would really like some balanced opinions with credible insider knowledge if anybody has some!

Car bin sick too - four visits to local TVR hospital, but only two break downs;

3. New battery
4. New clutch slave cylinder
5. Brake light gremlins
6. N/S rear light full of water
7. Wheels balanced and aligned
8. Dreadnought throttle body conversion
9. Lots of alu bits from Leven and Dave Beever
(10. Dare I say it - engine still OK at 10K miles, but plan prophlyctic rebuild + more power next winter)
Post buy spending now £4k+ (don't tell Mrs. Cider)

bloo-dy hell. 4 grand! you could buy my village for that!! good for you matey, sounds like its coming along, without going too wrong. got any pics? which shiny levern bits did you get, I'm thinking of changing my upper dash and heater bit for a shiny metal one, cos the faux faux faux wood is tacky even for my taste. I'm up to 7k of my own miles now and still no major catastrophes >insert curse here<
yep, I'm hoping to get along to cream, though times are a little hard here at the moment, but I'm hoping things will have settled down by then. hope to see you there old chum.

True, but we may have got the saggy-ass with the vents in tact
I reckon he's made good progress in the time he's been here. It's all too easy to say the improvements to warranty, engine etc have not been proven.

My worries are pretty much the same as CWC.....
I know its early days, but the mag reviews and tele shows dont seem to be doing him any justice.... and you'd think they would at least make sure their PR cars are 110%, this is just damn right embarrassing... I can see Wheeler in his chair right now, "...I say Charles, that young gentleman - I handed the keys to my company to, is not getting far at all. Oh Charles, send over the blonde young lady will you, I'm bored with this red-herring"....

It doesn't matter IMHO.
The success of TVR will be related directly to the standard (and direction) of the next production car (excluding the Typhon).
The Speed-6 is a worry but I'm fairly satisfied that it's over the worst of it's problems.
If NS produces his own brand of TVR next (which I believe he will) then that will say a lot....

Speaking as someone who has dipped his hand into his pocket twice in the last two years and bought a TVR I am more than happy with the state of affairs. Both cars have been very well put together and my 1st Tuscan went on its way to its new owner having returned me over 80% of my outlay and having never broken down.
Personally I couldnt give a monkeys if a bit of trim falls off on 5th gear. The people who are going to use that as an excuse not to buy one aren't potential customers anyway. They'd rather ponfificate on internet forums about the reasons why they aren't going to buy one.
The press I've read on both new cars has been very positive and so was 5th gear last night.
I think NS and his team are doing a great job and so do an awful lot of people who are buying the new cars, as evidenced by the large number of new arrivals appearing on here. I may be wrong, but according to people's profiles, everyone who has posted on this thread thus far already owns a TVR so I'm not sure that point is particularly relevant!

I think most potential purchasers - especially newcomers to the fold, use publicity as a way of convincing themselves to buy or not... advertising and independant reviews exist for a reason... if they didnt work or had no effect then there would be no need for reviews and advertising... just throw your money into anything your heart desires...
Existing owners, who have been 'burnt' by failure and stress of misguided ownership and costs... are well within their rights to be overcautious about any bold statements such as "better quality, increased reliability, no more speed 6 engine worries etc etc"...
give us a break old chap... we're just human, not every one makes a stonking purchase which pleases to no end... so a bit of questioning and flaming is in order... but balanced views from good and bad reports from owners through to independant tests is whats needed...
if NS has truly done TVR good, then we'll soon see it... but the last thing a new owner wants after dropping 50k into some dealers pockets, is to drive down the road whilst turning the window control knob and having it come off in the hand... or a black box falling out into the footwell....

Maybe I was slightly snappy....................
But I've been on here for 28 months and if I'd allowed it to influence me I would never have bought my first TVR, let alone my second.

For 40k (T2) and 50k (Sag) these cars are such a bargain its unbelievable.

I was at the factory a month ago and it was absolutely buzzing and the assembly area was full of new TVR's being finished and already sold. Morale seemed great (2 days after the lay offs) and everyone was very helpful.
I spoke to a dealer last week who had sold 11 cars the week before.
My new car is bloody fantastic. The new warranty is a huge bonus (I'd ordered my car before it was announced).
Communications with the factory are great. (I've had a number of questions and have had prompt replies and had one very serious question which was answered frankly and in depth).
How many new tiv's does she need to sell a year to stay in the green zone? roughly ball park?
Sales are predicted to be good this year.... I guess I'll pull the accounts from companies house after they've been filed to get an idea... but rumours tend to say that sales are going slower than expected...
maybe more extravagent marketing is in order....
so what happened with the Sagaris make new challenge race thing? not happening? is motorsports involvement totally out of the window???? I recall it being mentioned in the 5th Gear show last night....

I agree ciderwithcerbie, the cars are of a very old design with only a new bonnet and dashboard. The electrics are still dodgy also.

The chief designer NA and the motorsport wizkid JR have both left as well as most of the design team and developement engineers. The Typhon seems to have been cancelled also by the leaving of its design engineer CR and It is well known that TVR cannot pay its bills on time.
