Cant bloody believe those arrogant, prejudiced, pretentious w@nkers.
First Ferrari I actually think looks good and like the sound of comes out in ages. I rush down to my local dealer and put my name down. Dealer happy as larry, phones havent stopped ringing all day from ppl putting their names down. I check out the ferrarichat.com boys, hey lads, new Dino in the press, just got my name down on one, what do you think? The responses? Urgh, a "cheap" "mass produced" Ferrai. Commoners will own them.

ing strangled the buggers.Same thing happened to me. Put my name down for a Murcielago e-gear, went straight onto the boards to chirp about it, someone says its the worst Lambo they ever built. Someone else even had the cheek to suggest I was only posting to show off about it. Needless to say I cancelled the order straight away and went down to my nearest TVR dealer and took a Saggy out. Now I got some cute salesgirl trying to talk me into it! I tried to explain I can't justify more than 5 cars - Goddamit! Decisions, decisions. Life's a bitch!

Same happened when Aston brought out the DB7. All Aston owners screamed that they were just XJS' and shouldn't be allowed in the owners club.
10 years on and it has been the car that has revived Aston and given them the ability to produce the new range of wonder cars.
All the major sports car manufacturers either have or will have an entry level car. Porsche have done it with the Boxster, Astons have done it, Lambo have etc.
Ferrari are just a few years behind the curve and are only doing it becasue they have taken a huge profit hit and have been left with the designes for a Maserati which they can convert into a baby Ferrari. (Ring any bells with the Aston - Jaguar-DB7 story?)
However, I think that they have got their timing wrong.
I suspect that by the time they bring out this model there won't be the cash in the hands of the market that they are aiming for. The money will be being spent on servicing debt and building savings.
My thoughts to anyone at the moment is that cars are going to get a whole load cheaper over the next 24 months and there will be plenty of people on the waiting list who can't fund the final purchase.
At the same time you will be able to buy the 360 of the chap who insulted you for bugger all as he won't be able to maintain finance and the market will have fallen off.
Keep your powder dry. Cash is king and if the economy turns and spends the next few years unwinding the debt situation then those with cash will appear at the other side with the best cars

Actually, the reason I tried one was cos the wife is constantly complaining that she hates the Cerb - it's noisey, it's hot, it's uncomfortable blah blah. So, I treid a 456 as I can't think of any alternative. It's quite a boring to drive, it has little presence on the road, and there's even less leg room in the back than in the Cerb. I also looked at a Mondial T Cab, and with the driver's seat set in the right position for me there is about 1 inch of legroom in the back. Regrettably my kids have legs...
While I knew I would never actually get rid of the Cerb my position has been confirmed. I ain't getting rid of the Cerb, so my wife will just have to stick earplugs, only wear her undies (that'll make a change!) and take a cushion.
I'm amazed you expected any other reaction than snobbery from Ferrari owners!
They are just posers cars for people who want to show off their wealth and as such rather crass and chav-like. And that's what they think of them in Italy too. Don't be suckered in by Ferrari, they are a con. It cost me a lot of money to find that out first hand. It still hurts to think about it! A caterham is so superior dynamically it's laughable. Don't believe me? Go on a track day and see for yourself.
One reason they are so popular is because you can own a new one for 6 months and not lose money if you keep yourself on the early order, instantly re-order every six months treadmill. That's why they are all thrashed from new and from cold and why I'd never touch a low mileage car. The mad thing is it's cheaper to have a new one every six months than keep a car for two years. Real enthusiasts who buy the car to keep and cherish get chewed up and spat out of the 2nd hand ferrari market. The cars are worthless over 30,000 miles and a minter's not worth a penny more than a scratched thrashed one.
