I don't know how many of you have been reading the posts on the Noble forum but one of the owners is not a happy chappy as his advert on eBay says it all...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4542756105

I find this quite surprising as their press officer Simon is always posting and is very helpful looks like there has been a breakdown in communications between the dealer and the totally p****d off owner somewhere!

Unfair to laugh at other people's misfortune but it's rather amusing considering all the TVR knocking that goes on! At least the guy's got a sense of humour Rich...

Well.....I don't know whether he has posted up his own set of questions and answers...or got some mates to do it for him.....but they made me smile anyway!!!

At least the guy has a sense of humour....although he certainly has it in for the dealer.........

Two sides to every story though.......

Sounds like a (tounge in cheek here) typical TVR ownership shory ..

This one :

"The Throttle cable stuck which resulted in the car accelerating to over 100 MPH on the public roads "

That's always happening to mine - at least that's what I tell the police

When you own a bespoke car - you need pretty thick skin because this can and does happen.

A Noble Owner said;

Air Con Unit has failed

Speedo jumps all over the place and has failed while driving

Headlights have not worked correctly

Water has entered the headlight unit and the lights corroded

Exhaust has come loose many times and had to be welded back on

One of the Turbos has become loose and nearly fell off

The driveshaft has broken 3 times so far

The main fuse has blown loosing all power and electrics in the car

The Windscreen wipers have failed a number of times, including once on the motorway in heavy traffic

The Throttle cable stuck which resulted in the car accelerating to over 100 MPH on the public roads

The Disks and Pads have had to be replaced many times

Water has entered the spoiler

Electric problem in that the headlights dim every so often when on

The engine misfires when accelerating in 2nd gear

Passenger wing mirror goes off centre all the time

Apart from that works great!

Would consider swapping for Kangoo Van, Segway Human Transporter or other more reliable form of transport (Donkey perhaps?)

I'm sorry but this one had me in tears!

'Q: Hi, I'm looking for something to keep a few chickens in, and it looks like your car would be perfect! Would you consider accepting 3 Goats and a Turnip as a straight swap? I would of offered my Wife and a Turnip but it looks like you've had a pretty rough time of it already without compounding the problem!

A: In all fairness, you wife can't be that bad ..'

NOBLE FACTORY RESPONSE

While we are genuinely sorry for the problems that Mr Weir (viperbl) has suffered, we obviously regret that he has chosen to take matters this far.

The first time Noble Automotive was made aware of these problems was around three weeks ago, when we received a copy of a letter sent to Christopher Neil from Mr Weir.

We immediately contacted CN and they informed us that they had dealt with all the problems under warranty and that the car, in their opinion, was 100 per cent. Mr Weir was made aware of this, too.

Seven days ago, the factory received an e-mail from Mr Weir, in which he refused to accept that CN had dealt with the problems. In response, we offered to collect the car from CN ourselves and give the car a full inspection - at no charge to Mr Weir - to make sure that all the faults had been addressed to our satisfaction.

The Noble M12 GTO-3R in question was registered on 29/3/04 and has now recorded 11,096 miles. It should be noted that the 3R is sold as a road car, and if owners decide to enter races/rallies in it, they should expect accelerated wear of certain components.

We hope that Mr Weir will change his mind and let us examine his car, so that he can continue to enjoy it at various events.

Christopher Neil will issue an independent response on the Noble forum later today.

I dont know what to say... a pi*sed off owner, Noble sticking their hand out and offering assistance on a plate, Christopher Neil? Maybe the issue is one that fired between the customer and the dealer... in my experience, the dealers can be a little disfunctional at times, and also be very selective of their customers as in 'oh shit, its him again, I hate putting this fake smile on'.... its a tough world...
and I thought Nobles were solid cars?
Looks like theres melons in all courts...
TVR dealers - you can use this one as publicity!!!! I'm sure Noble dealers have used the 'TVR reliability issues' as a good sales pitch to lure potential owners in....

I feel very sorry for this guy who has forked out a pile of his hard earned dosh for a dog with fleas. My advice - take up Noble on their offer, then use the car for one month, if further problems arise, commission a private report on the car and sue the pants off the dealer! (check home contents insurance policy for a legal expenses clause which may save a lot of money on solicitors fees)

Oh and, by the way, that is a VERY entertaining ebay posting!

Sensible hat time...

It is an amusing eBay post, and I really do feel sorry for the guy suffering all of these difficulties.

However, we don't know the full story (e.g. how things got so bad between the owner and CN, how the owner ran the car in and the owner's driving style).

Noble has worked hard to earn a reputation for building solid performance cars, and one disgruntled customer should not lead to the unravelling of this good work.

Noble have taken the time to issue a press statement and to offer the bloke some help (and I appreciate that there's a vested interest in doing so).

The British puiblic are only too keen to denigrate British sports car manufacturers who are working hard to make the cars that we enthusiasts want to drive and that schoolboys want pictures of on their walls. Let's not join them until we know the full story...

I have just spoken to Mr Weir and he has agreed to let us give his car a full inspection, before he collects it from Christopher Neil.

And as a footnote, we have far more respect for TVR than to make cheap jibes in our written or verbal publicity about a rival's durability.

As I think TVR's Marketing guy recently mentioned on this website, TVR and Noble produce very different cars, but both companies are united in bringing credible alternatives to the might of Germany and Italy.

I second that!

Well... not quite right! The British public has a schizophrenic and paranoid psyche which allows them to run around spouting out like headless chickens at every potential injustice the universe has the temerity to throw up and act like they know and appreciate every side of an argument whether they got to know about it first-, second-, or third-hand and usually by way of the magical mystery of media

Edited on behalf of DeeJays valid point

Remember, dealers can either help make or singularaly scar a small companies image.... I'd be interested in finding out how this matter got out of hand, maybe Nobles legal department should get involved, this kind of negative publicity has a long arm and is uncalled for....

There is always two sides to a story, but at then end of the day, its the customer who paid the dosh. He has statutory rights, and the right to accept or reject services rendered, if he feels unhappy with the quality or worries for an extended duration of issues.

Its good to see TVR opening up a new showroom in London, and hopefully that might bring some real credit back to TVR, hopefully a dealer headed by BS??? might just be what the doctor ordered, no pi*sing about now - and probably snap many potential sales away from the surrounding dealers too.

Where's the line between commenting and 'naming and shaming'?

Perhaps we should wait for the posting by the dealer before making assumptions using 2 sets of 2nd hand information?

Ignoring the details of this situation, it's so nice to have someone from the company itself appreciating the amount of potential buyer/owner activity on PH, respecting the fact that this really is a place full of enthusiasts (and potential revenue), and doing something about it.

It's things like that that make me consider a Noble. If M14s could hurry up and get made, sold, depreciate, and onto the second hand market, or M12s got to the point where I could justify one as a weekend car, that's the kind of thing that'd sway me one way or another.

Micknall - you earn your keep!

TVR - Start playing catch up on this one.

Personally - I think it's very good that Noble come on to a public forum to put their point of view.

I'm sure there is more than one owner (and Ted) who would not dream of starting a slagging match here.

Because for legal reason's it's just not the place.

I did find the ebay funny but let's face it - it's not really the best way to get situations like this one sorted out.

I hope the two parties can resolve this in a mutual way without recourse to lawers and courts.
