Wheeler at Combe

Can't find this posted anywhere else, but Peter Wheeler was at Castle Combe yesterday racing an Aston Martin.

Good luck to him, i guess 15 years racing Tuscans must make a classic Aston seem farely tame, nice way to retire though.

Yeah.
He bought it out of Runnymede, an Aston specialist. I was down there a few feeks ago and theyhave a few race stripped Db4's and 5's there. Malc. saw my Griff and mentioned Peter Wheeler had just bought one of theirs.

He always said he liked the old straight sixes found in old astons and jags. Apparently they're why he wanted and made the speed six we have today.

Looks like he was serious both about liking old Astons and making the speed six doesn't it?

I went and saw him race. He did quite well. The Astons were on after the Mini's and looked and sounded awesome. Not very chuckable cars though but they made up for it on the straights.

Where were you standing? I was at Tower / Bobbies / Camp.

He has the same prep team as us, Colin Blower Motorsport, they have done a great job converting it from the "orange" bomber, I kid you not, into the sleek fighter it is today, cost him a few bob, but it's a nice car, 400bhp and only 1000kgs, surprising isn't it.

Colin is running 9 Aston's at the last count, and now he's found someone to race the Vauxhall VX 220 whizzer,so he has another GT3 car to run at Croft as well as our BMW Z3MCoupe GT3, we are all taking bets on how long it will be until Peter asks Colin to elongate the Ultima so he can go GT racing

8 years as a TVR dealer was bad enough,.... now he's running in the same team, I can't get away from him

Do you work for Peter? I saw the race at Castle Combe and PRW drove well.
