Charity Track Day Success

Lots of money raised for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf but an expensive 'ding' for one driver.

Very messy Griff which is sad to see. Would have been interested to see the rear lights before the smash as they look like an interesting variation on the light thing.

You know I cannot imagine how I would feel if that happened to me.
Hope he had track day cover insurance - Imagine if he didn't

I'd like to see a shot of that griff before it met the fence. It looks like it was not exactly standard....any one have any pictures?

That looks like the Griff I saw this Spring at Shakespeare County raceway in the run what you brung session. The rear lights had a conversion i had never seen before and looked great - didn't get the chance to talk to the driver about them, but the car was fast! Sad to see it like that.

The griff was at duxford and I have some pictures somwhere (not digital though) It had Tuscan style lights at the front a vented bonnet a rear splitter near the exhauts and tuscan s style rear lights blended in. Anybody know if its going to be sold in the bent state? might be interested

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that, cash waiting if it's for sale

Yes, it was that one, and (allegedly) no track day insurance (unsubstantiated rumor heard on day).

Cheers.

The guy was a very nice bloke, he was following me into one of the corners i went sideways and kept it drifting, his mrs said he went sideways and hit the brake .. shooting him off the track.

He lives in Chesterfield, the car conversion was made in Mansfield I believe and he bought the car after the conversion.

The back end lights were very very nice .. I wasnt to keen on the front bonnet.

I realy felt for the bloke, I hope he was insured. He was keeping good spirits at the BBQ after.

yup Alex that is the car at Duxford .. he said he was there last month.

Yep it's from sunny derbyshire .. only a few miles from my workshop and i'd never seen it until topcliffe! .. anyway the bloke who did the initial conversion was in my workshop yesterday doing a cerbie light conversion and I was telling him about it. The owner was indeed a very pleasant chap, and his wife wasn't too phased by the crash - good to see them unhurt. the car did look quite spectacular beforehand, let's hope it's repaired and back on the road asap.

All there cars from just around the corner and I've noticed them about, or at any regional meetings? Mansfields, only 5 minutes from 'sunny' Hucknall,
Joolz, are you going to Cadwell tomorrow?

It also had a carbon fibre rear diffuser which is evident on the floor.

I remember seeing it at Duxford this year and thinking the lights looked good aswell...

I am glad to hear they are both OK.

Sobering reminder.

youre right about sobering reminders
there were 7 spins on that corner (all outward into the grass)before his accident
None after!
Pity it sometimes takes this sort of thing to take the genitals of fthe forehead!
Felt very sorry for him when it happened
Fortunately both he and wife were physically OK
