What colour is my car?

Hi all,

Having just got a new toy I need to do a bit of touch-up on a few stone chips. Does anyone know what the colour actually is? The code is:

Purple metallic - R-mm8306A

Yep, looks like Chianti Starmist to me.... man of taste! See my profile...

The odd thing is I'm convinced the man at the DVLA was totally colour blind - my V5 says it's red... I've seen another Chianti Cerb that said black, and your's says purple.... madness. I even checked with the factory, and they confirmed mine has always been this colour, so how the DVLA can have convinced themselves it's red is anyones guess!

If you take your code to any TVR friendly bodyshop they will be able to mix up a small amount.

They use the code to look up the weights and mix the paint from the specified weights.

Any bodyshop can do it, its just down to whether they have record of your paint code.

Is this a mainstream manufacturers colour? I.e can I pop into Halfwits and get a touch-up pen, or is a call to TVR on the cards?

I'm sure I've seen some TVR's advertised as Techno violet metallic (BMW colour) might yours be this, looks simmilar in the photo.

Be sure, i.e. physically check, that the paint code in the handbook and the paint code on the inner wing are the same.

Often they arent.

Not sure if it's Starmist Chianti. My Tuscan was more purple/burgundy and your Cerbera looks more violet. Then again it could be the lighting conditions as Starmist Chianti is a flexible colour

As for the DVLA the colour was 'Black'

There's a purple called something like Amaranth, if not Starmist Chianti it could be that. Both yours and that Tuscan look great - TVR colours can be so beautiful, but their knack of looking different in different lighting conditions makes nailing the colour down tricky sometimes!

ps doubt very much Halfwits would have a good touch up match.

According to the Rob Ingleby report and the handbook mine is Porsche Amethyst Purple and looks a bit like that. If you go to the Thames Valley and Surrey 24th Day there are some pics of it on there(Not sure how to do links to other threads - sorry). Also, not sure what the code is either I'm afraid. DVLA say purple.

Amaranth is a Rover colour. Found on Classic Mini's and MGF's primarily.

Quite probably. I have definitely encountered a Chimaera in Amaranth Purple, though.
