I fitted the alloy rear window clips from Racetech on my Tuscan a few years ago with thumbscrews replacing the allen headed bolts. As the alloy is softer than the steel screws I always had a fear they would become cross-threaded at some point and sure enough one has done just that.

Has anyone out there got the ability to put helicoils or other threaded steel inserts in for me rather than spending >£100 on a new pair of clips ? I think they're M5 bolts.

Helicoil kits are fairly cheap.

Machine Mart do individual helicoil kits with all you need for about £16.00.

It’s not a difficult task if you just take your time and follow the instructions.

Good shout, one kit inbound from Machine Mart. Hopefully I don't bugger it up, been about 30 years since I installed one in an aircraft tongue out
