Go say hi to Dave Morris. He runs his LS powered Tuscan racer each year, it's a very very quick car especially when he fires up the nitrous

I thought the sprint had stopped running, what with the greens being in charge and all that?
I’d love to make a weekend of it.

They did their best! They stopped it for one year following a fatality, but popular demand brought it back. However, many see their decision to allow the tiered promenade viewing areas to fall derelict as a backdoor way of stopping the event; it's no longer possible to view from there.
The longest established motor sport event in the world. Fact. thumbup

Rather late response - but my "69" TVR Tuscan came 2nd by two hundredths of a second at Brighton on 1st September 2018. 10.22 standing quarter at 156 mph with 60 coming up in 2 seconds at the 64 ft mark.

Absolutely outstanding time!

Makes my N/A Chim at 11.83 seem arthritic!

What was your 0 to 60 ft time?

I suspect brighton isn't very grippy (?) so even better ! How much Tuscan is left though to get performance like that? It's hypercar-slaying acceleration!

He doesn't post much so I'm sure he won't mind me chipping in... I ran around with Dave in the Purley area in the 70s & 80s and we were all incredibly jealous of his '69 V8 Tuscan, everyone else was in Escorts & Minis at that time. He modded it over the years and has always been a regular at Brighton, I have some grainy pics somewhere of it in its original form, it's always been on that reg number, spaced thus:
OF V8 G.
It eventually mutated into this 7 litre LS, nitrous shiffing, sequential shifting monster in Tuscan Racer clothing, I don't recall what happened to the old car.
Here's an in-car vid from Brighton 2015: https://youtu.be/smE08MdaCug

Is it road legal? The IVA tester must have had kittens when that rolled up at the test centre hehe Guessing it doesn't qualify for MOT exemption either hehe

Here's a video which gives a flavour of the event. Dave's car is about 3/4 the way through.

Found this vid of top 6 shoot-out, 2018.
Preceded by the glorious orange Allard 'Old Fella' that has run at Brighton since Nelson lost his eye, the Tuscan spins up at each gear change and sets ftd, followed by any number of anodyne grey Japanese things, one of who's electrickery enables it to shave off 2/100s laugh
