Mixing Toyos

Firstly my local tyro emporium advisaes me that SO3's are discontinued. Is this true.

Secondly as I am nearly on the canvas and must get a rear set sharpish, can I mix rear Toyos and front SO3's??

I have and I'm not dead yet. You can feel a grip difference so I'm thinking of getting my fronts replaced very soon,but I don't think its vital.

Had Toyos on the back for about a month now, with SO3's on the front, I think it's slightly more tail happy than it was with SO3's all round,

SO3 are dated but Toyo's invested a lot of money in the design for TVR's. I think most people would agree that they are a better all round tyre for the UK roads.

Well I wouldn't agree

The reality (perhaps sadly) is that Toyos are pretty much the only choice so you might as well get them and take it easy until you get used to them.

I've got Bridgestone fronts and Toyo rears. Delighted with the Toyos and will happily put them on the front when the time comes.

Can't you get F1s in the Griff sizes? I like them better than the S02s on my Tuscan.

Had Bridgestones on the front of the 400SE and Toyos on the back. Now have Toyos all round - both ways the car was fine..

some num nut has put Firestones on the rear of my car .... their coming off bloody soon, no confidence in road holding at all.

Bridgestone SO2's on the front.......(seem ok)

Must admit I like the Eagle F1s so reckon I'll get some new ones for my rears

Funny, Iv'e had the same symptoms since I changed to this mix, about 3 months now!

You can get F1s but they are different designs for front and back - GSD2 for the front (15" ) and GSD3 for the back (16" ). This may not be a problem but the tyre places I've called suggested it would be better to find a tyre that fits front and back. The only one I can find in a Z rating is the Toyo S. The Toyo R sounds like a more suitable tyre (for me) but no Z rated 15".

Well mine have got 24psi in them, might play about with the pressures up at my favorite island and see if it makes much difference

I've had a few Tivers onto me for Bridgestones recently and I have had to pass on the comments from Bridgestone UK which were..

We no longer produce tyres for the TVR mraket in the sizes you have requested, we reccomend Toyo!!

Surprising to hear say the least!

From running both I would say the Toyo are a nightmare for the first 1,000 miles and then they are superb, personally I think they eclipse the Bridgestone IMHO, but it depends on your tyre size. The Bridgestone have a very stiff sidewall so if you are using standard size tyres with a tall sidewall they work well in relation to lateral movement.
For people with a low sidewall the Toyo ot Avon are far better.

Have a set of 245/45/ZR16 T1R Proxes to shod the White Elephant with.

I've got so3 on the front and toyo at the rear, finding the rears seem to stick to road better then s03 used to, can't wait to wear out the fronts, toyo's all round then !!!

Are those Ebay tyres suitable to fit the rear 16" alloys used on most Chims/Griffs? I tghought the standard sizing was 225/50/16/ZR?
