Euro breakdown cover
Discussion
I presume you don't have uk breakdown already?
I used LV as my uk supplier and then upgraded for our TVR S euro tour to Le Mans, as we were only 3 months from the end of the annual date then the upgrade was only £26. I believe this would have been much higher if covered from day 1.
As it happenned because of the heat the fusebox started to melt and so needed to be taken home. LV were brilliant and organised taxi to train station, train to Paris, taxi to airport, flight to Manchester and hire car home (for 2 of us).

I've been with ADAC for last 5/7 years.
There are posts on here regarding people's ability to sign up with them or not. However, I joined because of post on Tuscan forum...poster was totally satisfied with the way he and the car were treated.
Unlike AA and RAC, ADAC are a member's non-profit organisation. I've just renewed for ~£85 (charges in Euros) for total European cover with the wife included. They cover the individual, NOT the car, so if you do a trip in a mate's vehicle, the cover applies.
I've always found them totally polite and easy to deal with.

Adrian Flux do a stand-alone breakdown cover which I use for less than 60 pounds per year (You dont need to be regularly insured with them either).
I chose it because it include Europe and does not mater about the age of the car (that is an issue with others!).
All good so far, but I have not used it in anger so no feedback on its use.

...But it may all change after March 29th (Brexit!)

Another thumbs up for ADAC. We go to Germany most years, in various vehicles and I struggled to get cover for my Griff as it was 'too old'.....
ADAC cover anywhere in Europe - including the UK and provide cover for my bike as well.
Just be aware that, if you sign up, they need 3 months notice of terminating the agreement and all correspondence is in German!!

Having said that, when I renew, I always ask for an English speaker, and usually get put onto someone who does!
What attracts me the most is that they are run like an old 'mutual' insurance company - no shareholders to answer to, just the members themselves. I believe that is why the annual premium is so reasonable.

Just got a quote of £59.44 for a week in Zone 1 countries from AA Five Star Euro cover. Cheaper if your'e a member:
Andorra
Belgium
Channel Islands
France
Germany
Isle of Man
Luxembourg
Monaco
Netherlands
Republic of Ireland
….And that's OK - but compared to ADAC which charged me ~ £87 for a YEAR for all of the EU countries (Spain, Greece,,,,) - Kinda makes the AA look a tad expensiveAndorra
Belgium
Channel Islands
France
Germany
Isle of Man
Luxembourg
Monaco
Netherlands
Republic of Ireland
The 'best' deal I had was from RAC who, with a bit of haggling and TVRCC discount, charged me £150 for a year's cover to Europe/multi trip (doing LM 24H, LM Classic and 2 weeks in France at a gite and then the Spa 6 Hours. Had to keep prodding the chap on the 'phone to get the premium down though. And that was in 2010.

+1
I think the AA Euro cover has got more expensive over the years than the competition.
I just rechecked with the AA for annual cover and ticked 'Are you a member?' and got £90 for the year.
I drive to Yoorop with Eurotunnel, they have an option for 'impulse' buy Euro breakdown when you've booked, so for weekend jaunts, I use that. Impulse-buy normally means 'more expense.' From memory it was about £20 for a long weekend.
There's some consternation over car insurance claims post-Brexit (whatever Brexit means) in that we 'might' have to claim from foreign insurance companies after March, get a Green Card, plus uncertainty over EHICS, driving licences, emissions certs. So that's held me off booking anything until the silly basterds in Parliament sort out the mess.

Even though I've renewed a couple of times, I still have my original membership card with the original expiry date - any thoughts?Having said that, when I renew, I always ask for an English speaker, and usually get put onto someone who does!

I too have the same card...with all the contact details for ADAC, since I joined. I think what has happened is that all the "admin" type stuff has gone paperless and once you renew each year, your number is 'active' again. I got a letter back end of last year advising that all the member information is now on-line - the quarterly(?) magazine Motor-Welt has been for some time. (Thanks to friends son studying in Berlin...and Google translate!)

Thanks Nick
Might be worth mentioning that the ADAC agent Bongard appears to have lost the Nurburgring contract, so no more free recovery off the Ring for ADAC members
