Short term TVR insurance...
Discussion
Does anyone know of any insurers who will insure me for a long weekend (LM) on a TVR Cerbera 4.5
I have driven the car before on track and will be accompanied by my Dad at all times anyway... Just wish to drive it down there, drove the Smart all the time last year and it was awesome.
His current insurers dont like young people driving TVR's (im 19) so I dont think they are an option.
This is probably a real long shot, but all advice is appreciated.
Maybe I should just follow Dads advice and do a load of trackdays straight after Le Mans in it instead, atleast then I can push it!!

You didn't have a sports exhaust on the smart did you??!!
I'm 25, but the last couple of years I've been able to get on my dad's Tamora insurance for approx £17 a week or part thereof, up to a maximum of 90days throughout the year! It's with Tescos, blooming marvellous if you ask me, when I'm not near enough to drive it all the time!

No? But if it was the same colours as the one in my profile, then I'll happily take that as a compliment. Sounds lovely as standard
TVR however has a sports exhaust, all the better for it! Looks like I may be flucked on the insurance front - ah well.
edit: another smart there in "Gulf" colours had a sports exhaust (which didnt sound much louder/ sounded worse than mine IMHO) that unfortunately died on the way back, big crash.

Ah, not yours I don't think. Someone had traded a Smart in for a TVR, which I couldn't quite get my head round.
I was given a lift in it, and wasn't very impressed to be honest, rolled about on the country bends, sounded ridiculous with a sports exhaust, and lurched very slowly from gear to gear with the tiptronic box!!!

You are welcome to the passenger seat of mine at future PH meets... should change your mind on a few of the issues. The box is awful, but good fun when you accept its slow.
Privelidge will insure you on anything of lesser insurance group than you already own.... so with a group 20 Cerb I don't have a problem!
As my father uses them too we can just phone up and say "I'm taking his car" and get instant cover.
However, they do look for drives with experience of performance cars as well as age.
