Has anyone had problems with their insurance company, while running their TVR's through decat tubes without cats fitted?
I found out today that my insurance would be invalid running without the cats fitted, so I either look for an insurance company that will insure without, or get new fitted.

Nothing new. In the small print most policies state that the vehicle must be kept MoT worthy at all times. That's your side of the contract. So in the event of a claim they can wriggle. Some will draw tacit attention to specific things, others will leave it more vague.
If you think of safety items (e.g. tyres) it's easy to understand, simply extrapolate the argument from there!
On motorbikes it's usually exhaust related too.
Moral of the story: In the event of an accident, don't get recovered straight to the insurer's approved repairer...

Don't say running without Cats … It's a modified exhaust smile

thanks for replying guys, I wanted the exhaust to be logged as a modification with the insurance, just in case I was stopped by the police, due to the rather loud noise it produces, rather than having my car recovered due to no insurance.
A little different to defective tires, an accident would not be caused by a decatted exhaust.
