old lady driver
Discussion
Just had the side of my car scratched whilst parked in a pub carpark (I was actually sat in the car at the time). A little old lady and her husband tried to park in the space next to me which obviously wasnt big enough and despite my frantic waiving she didnt stop and scraped the side.
The problem is she refused to give her insurance details ( I do have the registration) saying the damage wasnt bad enough and I could touch it up with a red marker pen (the car is fireglow pearlescent!!).
Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?

Bad news - sorry to hear about that, kipper
I agree with delamars on this one. She has broken the law in failing to provide those details, so get along to the local cop shop and let them have her numberplate.
If it had been me, I'd have been right p
d off that she failed to provide and then came up with the (frankly ridiculous) suggestion that you use a highlighter pen to sort it out

Good luck mate, I hope you get it sorted soon...

All you need is the reg no., and the make and varient of the car, thats more than enough for the insurance company, same thing happened to me when an old git rammed me in his Daewoo, his insurance paid out in full.
One thing I did find disturbing, I tried to flag down the drivers that seen it, and no-one stopped, lovely country we live in!

This very same thing happened to two of us in a pub car park. Two Griffs parked in the sunshine and an Irish tourise in a hirecar came out the pub and reversed into one of the Griffs. He said there was no damage and assured us he hAd not been drinking and wanted to leave without giving any details.
We called the police and let them handle it. His insurance company footed the bill for replacement armourfend.

I had to jump on the bonnet of a car to stop an old lady leaving the scene of a collision. She had smacked into a car in a multi-storey carpark and I was the only witness. I managed to get the police just luckily the owner of the vehicle returned. The police took the old dears keys and carted her off as they felt that she was unfitto be driving.

How do you know she's uninsured? If you've tracked her down and she told you, then just get the £450 repair costs off her. She will have saved a lot more than that during however many years she's been uninsured. If that's no good, private prosecution! No-one should get away with causing damge, especially where they're driving illegally. Good luck.
Yeah, the whole point of drinking & driving being illegal is diminished ability but as far as I can see it a lot of old people driving certainly have diminished abilities, and would even go as far to say even more than me if I'd had 8 pints.
Anyway that's enough granny bashing from me for a day.

Unfortunately, the police probably won't be interested.
A driver hit my girlfriend's car in a car park and damaged it before driving off. She reported it but after scratching their chins for 4 months they decided that they wouldn't proceed against the other driver, even though my girlfriend had their registration.
